Your Role

As a Gensler Designer with our dynamic Washington, D.C. team, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You will collaborate with your teammates to develop design solutions, as well as coordinate design through the construction documentation and construction administration phases of core and shell and interior architecture projects. You will be successful because you already know how to translate sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will DoCollaborate on base building, interior architecture and interior design projects that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and management of budgets and schedulesCoordinate with Interior Designers, Project Architects and Project Managers on delivery of project milestonesParticipate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, lighting, and furniture specificationsProvide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for constructionProvide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design conceptsWork with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, consultants, and fabricators to meet overall project objectivesProduce graphic presentations including 3D renderings, and construction drawingsContribute to the production of plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for constructionProvide technical support and documentation during completion and execution of all phases of project workAssist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordinationEstablish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationshipsChampion Gensler's diversity and inclusion goals with respect to teammates, partners, and consultantsYour Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Interior Architecture from an accredited program0-5 years of relevant experience with interior architecture and/or ground up building architectural experience (ideally both!)Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD + 3-D, Enscape, VRay, Grasshopper, Rhino or other visualization softwareKnowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or SPEXX a plusHand rendering skills to communicate design concepts are a plusKnowledge of the design process, including FF+E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materialsConceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideasAbility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of developmentAbility to communicate design ideas and directionA quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentOrganization, communication and relationship management skillsDemonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; If possible, portfolios should include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus, which we look forward to discussing during the interview
