Communications Content Developer

Our location serves as an embodiment and constant reminder of the School’s motto: Pro Ecclesia et Pro Patria, for Church and for Country. The School was established in 1909 by the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation (PECF). Our mission is to prepare boys in grades 4 through 12 to develop and use their spiritual, intellectual, artistic, and physical gifts not for themselves alone, but in service of the greater community. We are committed to a diversity among students, faculty, and staff that shapes and enriches our shared experiences.As part of the PECF, St. Albans, the Cathedral, the National Cathedral School, and Beauvoir benefit from strong ties and collaboration.Job DescriptionReporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Content Developer will think creatively and thoughtfully about how we can best share the stories of our school, work independently to create content for digital and print publications, and plan and create schedules for gathering and sharing information.Primary Responsibilities:Take photos and create videos of school activities.Produce and post content for social media.Write brief news items for the school’s website and other publications.Create weekly newsletter for parents.Find and share stories that will resonate with various constituencies (current families, alumni, families of prospective students, etc.), and determine which platforms will be most effective to reach these different groups.Edit, copyedit, and proofread documents, and write photo captions.Be present and active in school life.Secondary Responsibilities:Pull address lists for mailings (three-five times a year).Coordinate with volunteer photographers (each sports season) and professional photographers (four times a year).Classification:Faculty Staff 10-month 12-month Temporary Full-Time Part-Time Exempt Non-Exempt Designated Onsite Telework Eligible Salary HourlyReporting:

$60,000-70,000/annuallySupervision ExercisedFor the purposes of management, performance assessment, and span of control, the Communications Content Developer supervises: NoneProfessional Experience & QualificationsMinimum Experience:
Three years of copywriting experiencePreferred Qualifications:Preference for 3-5 years substantial copywriting experience.Able photographer and videographer, familiar with the basics of creating and editing images and film.Creative storyteller, in word and image.Compelling writer with excellent proofreading and copyediting skills.Self-starter who can create excellent content without substantial direction by supervisor.Experienced with web content, HTML, and database management systems (Blackbaud School Website and Raiser’s Edge a plus).Experienced with Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Premiere or Rush).Experienced with Facebook/Instagram/Google advertising and analytics.Well-organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.Work BehaviorsThis position requires an individual with the following characteristics:Commitment to St. Albans School’s values.Good character, kindness, and an open heart and mind.Integrity and honesty, with the highest ethical standards to choose the hard right over the easy wrong.Personally accountable; assumes ownership, control, and accountability for all areas of responsibility and commitments made to others.Accessible and responsive; serves others through collaborative problem-solving and openness to new ideas.Passionate, collaborative, strategic, and smart with a hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves orientation.Strong team player with high EQ, making it a key priority to develop strong relationships with faculty and staff at all levels at the school.Invests the time to be a visible, engaged, and engaging presence on campus.Ability to establish trust and credibility.Flexible and receptive to change.Working ConditionsSchedule: Ability to work that may be flexible as the role requires attendance at school events that may occur outside of the core school hours (i.e., night or weekend sporting events, prom, graduation); schedule will often be Monday through Friday between the general hours of 8 AM to 5 PM.
