Position Title:

Casual Graduate Writing Consultant - Writing and Communication CenterJob Description Under the direct supervision of the Writing and Communication Center (WCC) Director, this position will provide academic support to Ashland University graduate students across the disciplines on assignments that involve communication. The successful candidate will serve as a graduate consultant with expertise in composition, rhetoric, research practices, public speaking, and productive skills, synchronously and asynchronously.Provide constructive feedback on ideas, outlines, and drafts for any project that involves communication, whether that communication is written, visual, verbal, digital, or a combination of mediums.Provide help with improving organization and structure.Provide feedback to improve word flow, clarity, and readability.Provide feedback on APA, MLA, AMA, Chicago/Turabian, or any other formal style guidelines, including in-text citation and documentation.Provide feedback on grammar, syntax, and mechanics.Provide thoughtful, respectful, and sensitive work with graduate students with a range of abilities and concerns.Complete other tasks related to WCC support as assigned.Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in English literature, composition, rhetoric, linguistics, education, communication, or a related field.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Working knowledge of word processing, presentation software applications, and video conferencing applications.Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.Having professional experience writing and revising/editing the work of others.Preferred Qualifications
