All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.The DC Power Football Club Communications Coordinator will focus on DC Power Football Club’s first team, corporate communications, and media relations. The coordinator role will have an emphasis on supporting the club’s brands including DC Power Football Club, D.C. United, and Audi Field. The individual will be required to play an active role in media and player relations, which can range anywhere from writing and distributing press releases and securing and coordinating interviews with members of the Power FC first team and technical staff, to helping ideate and execute new content pieces for the club’s social media channels. Additionally, this individual will be asked to help coordinate player and technical staff involvement in events and activities related to community relations, ticketing, partnerships, and more. DC Power Football Club is looking for someone with a passion for women’s sports and understanding of soccer and the willingness to commit time and energy towards telling our club and player stories to help establish a connection with our fanbase.What You Will DoDevelop and distribute media communications and pitches to secure publicity for the first team.Write copy for matchday, content pieces, and social media.Assist with communications management and media operations on game day.Maintain projects through precise proofing of all materials.Work on multiple tasks at a given time and execute promptly.Travel with the first team for DC Power Football Club matches and other competitions.Perform other duties as assigned by the Communications and Content department.Your Background, Skills, and Qualifications1-2 years of experience in public relations and/or communications.Strong communication and editorial skills.Experience working with traditional media, social media, and digital marketing.Experience in sports preferred, but not required.Competencies (KSAs)Must demonstrate a high level of detail-orientation, especially under deadline pressure.Must have the ability to travel from Audi Field in Washington, DC to the Inova Performance Complex in Leesburg, Va.Must display organization and communicative skills.Must have the ability to work well under pressure.Must be able to easily switch between projects comfortably and quickly.Must possess a strong ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives.Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion with regard to interpersonal relationships.Must have a strong sense of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information.Must have good decision-making skills, solid judgment, and interpersonal effectiveness.Must be self-directed and able to work independently.Must be a flexible & reliable team player, both within own department and within the company as a whole.Must have strong communication skills: must be comfortable with engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.Must be able to identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption.Must have a strong command of reasoned, measured decision-making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made.All candidates must complete a successful background check.D.C.
