The full job description covers all associated skills, previous experience, and any qualifications that applicants are expected to have.The Fund & Marketing Development Director (FMDD), reporting to, and in concert with the Executive Director (ED), will be a thoughtful, creative steward of the existing donor base delivering a moves management plan to increase existing giving levels from diversified funding streams including individuals, foundations, corporations and community partnerships as well as an innovative, actionable marketeer skilled in all aspects of traditional and digital media.
The FMDD will be a bold fundraiser with a successful track record of raising up to $2M a year in gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations via event and program sponsorships, grants, annual gifts at all levels, mid-year and end-of-year campaigns.
Successful candidate will be skilled at strategic and tactical planning and will be instrumental at developing an effective plan to achieve the objectives of the organization.
We are in the process of transitioning from Raisers Edge and Greater Giving to a single, integrated provider for donor database management, event-based gift processing and social media oversight. We are looking for someone with experience in ensuring the infrastructure to cultivate and grow relationships throughout our community is functioning with accuracy and timeliness. You will have one FTE, a Development Associate, as a direct report.
We host a well-established, elegant annual event, a garden party for 300+ guests, in August to raise $1M+ net, a golf tournament, and an ambitious calendar throughout the year of smaller, volunteer-driven events, on-line individual or group drives and more. Experience with event and volunteer management will serve you well.
Cancer CAREpoint is at an exciting moment in its trajectory. After 10 years of expanding our services and building a base of support in the community to respond to the needs of cancer patients, survivors, family members, and caregivers, we have yet to establish the level of awareness throughout the Bay Area of the richness and efficacy of our programs. The top reasons CCP clients have identified as their reason for engaging our programs and services are Counseling, Wigs & Head Coverings, Support Groups and Financial Assistance. Our goal is to meet these and other non-medical needs of those affected by cancer and to do so at no cost whatsoever.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute annual fundraising plan in conjunction with Executive Director and related board committees for fundraising and marketing communications
Manage the Development Associate and event teams to execute on the annual plan
Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors
Extend and formalize existing Legacy Giving Program
Oversee and manage all aspects of writing, mailing and producing mail appeals
Events
Oversee external and internal fundraising events
Oversee annual golf and Garden Party events working with volunteers, staff and board members
Grants
Maintain overall responsibility for identification and submission of corporate and foundation fundraising
Research, develop, write and track proposals for corporate and foundation fundraising
Working with Chief Operating Officer, submit appropriate and timely grant summary reports
Qualifications
5 – 10 years of experience in a related field or relevant skills
Success in making fundraising solicitation asks and growing donors and donations
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
Knowledge donor and event management systems required
Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications and fundraising strategies
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
Relationship builder and team player
Ability to work on both the strategic and tactical level
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Passionate about the mission of Cancer CAREpoint and supporting cancer patients and families in our community.
