Job Summary:

The Salesforce Marketing Automation Product Owner must be able to understand the customer experience that delivers the Caterpillar promise, define the marketing platform capabilities necessary to provide a personalized experience and manage the development of those platforms for users across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will understand and have experience with both Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Social Studio, etc) and Salesforce Sales Cloud (marketing contact management, lead and opportunity management).

They will understand the positive impact modern marketing programs can have on an organization and be able to communicate this to the enterprise partners. They must be passionate about enabling omni-channel, data-rich marketing programs in an integrated approach that is directly driven by our strategic goals The Product Owner will be part of the Digital Marketing Enablement team focused on the long-term success of marketing and communication tools at Caterpillar. They will closely collaborate with other divisions, digital teams as well as Digital Product Managers across the organization.

What You Will Do:

Manage development and backlog for creation of Marketing Cloud campaigns, working closely with the architecture and engineering team to meet business deadlines

Work with stakeholders to determine short and mid-term product development strategy for the Platform and ensure alignment with overall member engagement vision and strategy. Ensure buy-in for the product development strategy both internally and with key internal business partners

Work closely with cross-functional teams to recommend solutions to address gaps with product enhancements and create shared vision for category product development. Collaborate with internal and external partners to direct the product development process and ensure a consistent customer experience.

Being an expert at understanding how all of the parts of the Marketing and Communication Platform fit together and the key capability that they provide to the organization. Responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the Development

Responsible for creating, maintaining, and prioritizing the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project

Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team and stakeholders

Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have

Assist with the elaboration of epics, themes and features into user stories that are small enough, or granular enough, to be achieved in a single sprint

Responsible for conveying the vision and goals at the beginning of every sprint

Responsible for making decisions on release dates and content

Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging with the customer

Participate in Daily Scrum

Participate in Sprint Planning meetings, Reveals and Retrospectives

Inspect the product progress at the end of every Sprint and accept or reject the work that has been done by the Development Team

Act as the voice of the team, communicating status externally

Be a good role model of Scrum values; understand the framework and the roles of each team member

Be a champion for the agile community and help to further the community within the organization

Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g. vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants and suppliers).

Considerations For Top Candidates:

Four-year Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, information systems, marketing, communications, engineering, or related field

Three years' experience managing a Salesforce Marketing Cloud environment with deep understanding various Salesforce Marketing Cloud components and the interconnectedness of those products.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Certifications (Email Specialist, Admin, and/or Consultant) –

Required

Salesforce Sales Cloud Certifications (Admin, developer, etc) –

Optional

2+ years’ experience as a product owner and/or business architect

2+ years of experience with the Agile methodology

Experience in managing or developing in other Salesforce products

Familiarity with complex content creation and management platforms, and related business processes to support high volume, personalized interactions across marketing channels.

Strong understanding of identity management and data integration including mastering and integration technologies as well as digital fingerprinting and data integration for digital identities including cookies and devices.

Demonstrated ability to communicate appropriately to ensure a team’s success

Strong accountability planning/organization, and teamwork

Highly developed interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive, emotional or potentially controversial situations.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Top candidates will also possess these Qualifications

Experience managing projects using Agile software tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Mingle, VSTS, JIRA, Team Services, Rally

Experience working with onshore/offshore team model

Demonstrated ability to empower teams

Strong accountability, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, and communication skills

Summary Pay Range:

$108,360.00 - $162,480.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
