General Manager, Energy Marketing & Communications, Americas.Preferred locations are Houston, Texas or Fort Lauderdale, Florida (United States).ResponsibilitiesLead the Americas marketing and communications team with team members located in the US, Brazil and Mexico.Build a strong understanding of the local energy markets, competitive landscape, customer segments, key customer accounts and area business strategy as a foundation for the marketing and communications plans and activities.Build brand awareness and position Wärtsilä Energy as an energy transition thought leader in the Americas target markets.Create demand for Wärtsilä Energy’s solutions by educating target customers and other key stakeholders about the technologies needed to support renewables ramp up and decarbonising the energy sector.Support sales by demonstrating the value of Wärtsilä solutions and services to target customer segments and accounts.Create and execute the yearly marketing and communications plans for the Americas regions and focus countries based on strategic business priorities and objectives including activities like:
Defining value propositions and key messages for customer and other stakeholder segments.Driving proactive media work with local communications agencies.Creating thought leadership content together with local thought leaders.Coaching and supporting local thought leaders with their communication activities.Producing and localising marketing and sales assets for different channels.Running targeted digital marketing campaigns including organic social media and paid advertisement.Organising Wärtsilä events and participating in key industry conferences.Managing the communications related to potential local reputation issues and crisis situations.
Manage the Americas marketing and communications budget and report on the progress and results of the marketing and communications activities to local business stakeholders and the global Energy marketing and communications team.Collaborate closely with key Americas business stakeholders and ensure alignment of the marketing and communications plans and activities with business priorities.Contribute to the development and execution of the overall Energy marketing and communications strategy as part of the Energy marketing & communications management team.Drive or actively contribute towards joint marketing and communications projects and development initiatives across the global Energy Marketing and Communications team.Set up and manage a network of external partners needed for local marketing and communications projects and media work.RequirementsA master’s or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or other relevant field of study.A minimum of 7-10 years working experience in marketing, communications or related work.A successful track record in international B2B marketing, external communications and media relations. Experience of working in the energy industry is seen as an asset.A strong interest in the energy transition and energy sector in the Americas.Experience of successfully managing cross-cultural teams and leading cross-regional projects.Experience of working in an international matrix organization and excellent stakeholder management skills.A demonstrated ability for conceptual thinking and strong planning, project management and prioritisation skills.Experience in setting up and managing a partner network of marketing and communications agencies and freelancers.Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, a can-do attitude and adaptiveness to change.A business-oriented mindset and the willingness to continuously learn and improve ways of working.Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
