Job Summary:The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and revising technical and operations documents such as manuals, procedures, reports, brochures, or articles. This involves research and gathering information from a variety of teams and resources.

Essential Responsibilities:Writes and edits technical documents, including reference manuals and product manuals.Writes and edits procedural documentation, such as user guides, procedures, and manuals.Meets with operational teams, technical teams, leadership, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes.Researches product samples, software systems, and operational processes to fully understand documentation needs.Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.Assists in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet regulatory deliverable dates, revision requirements, and dissemination to subcontractors and/or contract holders.Designs and maintains a library of application documentation, operational manuals, and cataloging for internal and external use.Utilizes existing and if necessary, establishes templates for written documentation provided by others, adapting to a consistency of CareOregon's template formats and requirements.Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.Gathers feedback from team members, leadership, subcontracted partners, licensed software representatives, and other stakeholders to improve technical documents.Provides technical assistance to subcontracted partners in aligning CareOregon technical documentation requirements.

Experience and/or Education:Required:Minimum 3 years' technical writing experience.Preferred:Technical writing in health care settings helpful.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficient technical writing and grammatical skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text.Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.Ability to learn, focus, understand, and evaluate information and determine appropriate actions.Ability to accept direction and feedback, as well as tolerate and manage stress.Ability to see, read, and perform repetitive finger and wrist movement for at least 6 hours/day.Ability to hear and speak clearly for at least 3-6 hours/day.
