Together, we are on a quest to change banking for good.About the Role:Capital One is looking for a strategic, creative and results-driven communications professional to join our Public Affairs team. Public Affairs is a cross-functional organization within Capital One’s External Affairs team that leverages best practices across public relations, marketing, political engagement, government affairs and digital campaign advocacy to enable business growth and mitigate risk.As a key member of the Public Affairs team, you will manage external communications and engagement on topics that bolster Capital One’s reputation while also contributing to public discourse around critical issues including credit access, affordable housing and business creation. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues across Corporate Communications, Government Relations, Community Impact & Investment, Legal and various lines of business to design and execute high-impact, integrated strategies that educate, influence and tell the story of Capital One. You will play a critical role in project management and stakeholder coordination, partnering not only with teams across the company but also with industry trade associations, nonprofit partners, think tanks and policy influencers. You will provide real-time, strategic counsel to senior leaders, influence alignment with stakeholders and support execution of a wide range of external events, earned media, influencer and digital advertising strategies.This position requires exceptional judgment, creative problem solving, attention to detail, action orientation and results focus. A zest for distilling complex issues into compelling stories and a curiosity about perspectives different from your own are essential to the success of this role. Humility, adaptability and a sense of humor will also serve you well.Primary Responsibilities:Contribute to and support execution of multi-channel reputation campaigns, including pitching stories to reporters, creating digital and owned content and managing paid and organic amplification plans.Identify reputation building themes mapped to target audiences and conceptualize activation plans to influence desired actions and outcomes.Leverage data and insights to inform proactive and reactive programming.Contribute to and support execution of issues advocacy programming in support of legislative and regulatory priorities.Drive third party strategies that harness grasstops, grassroots and elite influencer impact.Conceptualize, design and execute events that engage core audiences and advance strategic goals.Draft messaging and collateral materials on a range of different topics.Stay abreast of evolving trends in the political, policy and national media environment and apply insights to ongoing strategy and execution.Work seamlessly as part of a cross-functional team, in an open and collaborative environment.Project manage and coordinate programs across multiple stakeholders.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or military experience.At least seven years of communications experience.At least three years of public affairs experience.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with or for elected officials, regulatory agencies and/or political campaigns.Client Services experience in a consulting and/or corporate setting, such as a PR agency, trade association or in-house for a private sector business.Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as financial services or tech.Experience working with members of the media.Experience integrating data and research into messaging and earned media plans.Experience designing, planning and executing events.At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
