Epic Games is searching for an experienced Character Artist to work on our collaboration with Disney. In this position, you will work directly with world class concept and character art teams to help create exciting, compelling characters that embody their iconic roots. You will have the opportunity to innovate and contribute to the visual style of characters as part of building a rich and engaging interactive world.In this role, you will
Create characters and enemies based on direction from concept art and reference materialsModel high and low poly characters with clean and efficient topologyOptimize and bake characters to look their best within predefined budgetsBased on visual direction from the Art Director, collaborate on the visual style and ensure our designs are of the Epic quality barCreate and iterate on unique and stunning designs within a determined production scheduleModel characters in a variety of styles. You will primarily be working with stylized characters, but should be comfortable doing photo-realistic work when neededPartner with other departments, such as the Character Design or Concept Art team, to ensure the models work within the project workflowWhat we're looking for
Experience working on AAA games for console, PC, and/or mobileExperienced in game art asset creation in a variety of software packages including Maya or Max, Zbrush, Photoshop, Substance, etcA mind for technical function and aesthetic pursuit with an ability to balance creativity with functionAbility to work within gameplay design restraints (environment scale, character abilities, prototype function, etc.) and translate those restrictions into visuals that enhance the experienceStrong traditional drawing skills and knowledge of the human anatomy is a plusStrong understanding of color theory and how color affects mood & focal pointsExperience with Unreal Engine is a plusEPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE
