About the PositionThe Low-Cost UAV Engines Design Leader owns the integration and readiness of a designated propulsion system for a specific customer. Tasks include managing customer requirements, weapon system integration efforts, high level program management, high level configuration management, and technical milestones/deliverables of the engine model.

In this role, you will interface directly with the external customer to establish system requirements while collaborating with internal engine requirements and qualifications team leads. The model leader is also responsible for the technical stewardship of the program and will interface with a matrixed organization to mature the engine design and associated gate review processes, as needed.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:Provide technical leadership for a team of engineers for all product design aspects of the assigned propulsion system and any derivativeAssure all component designs meet requirementsSupport and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, and systems engineeringSupport service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI)Own customer relationships & integrate customer requirements into NPI and Qualification planningProvide strong guidance and contribution to development process templates and related design to cost projectsCommunicate progress to all levels of the organizationMentor and develop less experienced personnel

Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.Minimum of 10 years experience in design, systems integration, or qualification engineering.Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability obtain a US Government Security Clearance.Ability to travel up to 15%

Desired Characteristics:Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.15 years of experience in design, systems integration, or qualification engineeringActive US Government Security ClearanceMinimum of 5 years experience in unmanned expendable applications.Experience with DOD Qualification of Weapon SystemsTraining and/or Certifications in Six Sigma and/or Lean MethodologyDemonstrated experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and FP&A or equivalent business launch approval process.Working knowledge of CAMEO and program managing software (such as MS Project).Strong mechanical design and analytical backgroundFamiliarity with manufacturing processesAbility to drive projects to completion.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.Ability to integrate and direct matrixed teams.
