At the American Heart Association, your contribution matters, and so does your career.The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.The internship will work with other content creators within the National Advocacy Communications department to gain professional experience while creating compelling content for our social channels.Internship Overview:Time Commitment:

$23.00 per hourInternship Outcomes:Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment.Learn advocacy-specific communications skills.Explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization.Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume.Responsibilities:Support content development and/or project management for a long-term issue advocacy campaign.Inform youth-oriented efforts on issues, including the tobacco endgame.Assist with proofreading materials (news releases, info sheets, etc.).Research reporters, facts, figures, and arguments in support of our advocacy priorities.Monitor and research media coverage of our priority issues.Assist with drafting web and social media content about our advocacy work.Qualifications:College seniors and graduate students pursuing a degree in public policy, communications, public relations, public health, journalism, or related fields are encouraged to apply.Experience in public policy and/or an interest in non-profit and health care communications is preferred.Familiarity with software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.Familiarity with Meltwater/Cision, Canva, and organizational social media platforms preferred.Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.Reliable Wi-Fi connection is required.Ability/willingness to travel locally; reliable transportation is needed.Minimum availability of 20 hrs./wk., M-F between 8:30 am-5 pm.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.Application Information:The job application window is expected to close: November 8, 2024.So, are you ready to intern for the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases?At American Heart Association | American Stroke Association, our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, age, language, sexual orientation, national origin, and physical or cognitive abilities.
