has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Senior Manager Corporate Communications reporting to the AVP External Communications.

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida.

Position Summary:

The

Senior Manager of Corporate Communications

will support Royal Caribbean Group’s (RCG) External Communications department by driving day-to-day external proactive and reactive communications work on behalf of the corporation. Reporting to the AVP External Communications, the Senior Manager will possess the know-how, creativity, and initiative to get the media’s attention for the Company’s story with consistent messaging and aggressive earned media goals. The candidate will have experience serving as a Company spokesperson, possess very strong media relations, and issues management knowledge and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, develop, execute, and evaluate earned media by deploying creative external storytelling to generate earned media across all platforms.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders including trade, consumer, financial, travel, and lifestyle media partners and experts.

Track record of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with local, regional, national, and international journalists and producers.

Identify and anticipate trends, as well as be opportunistic in sourcing, developing, and placing high-impact media stories and thought leadership that demonstrate the difference in cruising.

Minimize negative coverage by successfully anticipating (when possible) and managing reputational risk.

Train and support Company executives and spokespeople with media and speaking opportunities.

Responsible for incident and risk communications which includes working directly with the AVP External Relations, other communications team members, and senior leadership on natural disasters, accidents, and other potential crises, including assigning weekend rotation coverage for the Company’s Corporate Communications function.

Represent department and if needed serve as communications leader on important cross-disciplinary teams including multi-market teams and situation management incidents.

Writer and editor on all press materials including media pitches, press releases, fact sheets, media statements, and others.

Strong collaborator and partner who can move quickly to meet intended goals.

Work in alignment with the Corporate Communications team and the digital/web/social media communications and corporate social responsibility teams.

Make smart and efficient use of staff, vendors, agencies, existing materials, and resources available.

Travel and flexibility to support business events outside of regular hours including holidays and weekends.

Complete other tasks assigned by the AVP External Communications.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English, or related field preferred.

At least 10 years communications experience in corporate, government, and/or brand communications, public relations agency, issues management, or crisis management preferably in a public company.

8+ years of direct experience in external media relations.

Exceptional track record of working effectively with external media including demonstrated success in executing earned media campaigns resulting in coverage in major national outlets.

Knowledge and adherence to AP Style.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong ability to move quickly within a matrixed organization and interact with senior executives and build effective relationships within the company and media.

Strong planning capabilities to identify and prioritize communication strategies and activities as well as to meet deadlines required.

Experience preparing and leading small teams in reputation-threatening circumstances.

Possess journalistic curiosity and desire to always dig deeper for a story.

Evidence of being a collaborative partner and confident thought leader.

Strong leadership and relationship management skills.

Experience managing communications strategies with measurable results.

Outstanding writing and editing skills for different formats including announcements, statements, press releases, video scripts, letters, etc.
