Job DescriptionEdPlus at ASU is a dynamic unit of Arizona State University focused on the design and scalable delivery of digital teaching and learning models to increase student success and reduce barriers to achievement in higher education. We advance the economic, social, cultural, and overall health of the local, national, and international communities served by ASU.
We’re seeking a UX Designer who will deliver high-quality, innovative designs across our digital portfolio, which includes user experience and visual design projects for extensions of ASU, ASU Online and partnerships such as Starbucks, Uber and Adidas. This role will work closely with stakeholders, business analysts, project management, development, UX research, UX content and data analytics teams using design and storytelling to conceptualize both marketing and learning experiences. Joining the EdPlus Product and UX team, you will design solutions that enhance our technology stack and user experience, supporting ASU and EdPlus’s strategic goals in an innovative, collaborative environment.
This position is a hybrid role, and you will be required to be in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
Essential Duties:
Adhere to the web brand standards on typography, colors, imagery and spacing using the design system requirements.
Be a voice for the user and continuously advocate for improved experiences.
Identify and troubleshoot UX design issues (e.g. responsiveness, usability, accessibility, etc...).
Gather and evaluate design requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and engineers.
Illustrate design ideas using storyboarding, process flows, sitemaps and prototypes.
Give accurate time estimates for work; set deadlines.
Work in an agile environment using Jira to help prioritize and organize projects.
Present drafts and final products to stakeholders, partners and leadership through the lens of our students.
Work directly with web developers to ensure successful implementation.
Use UX design research and best practices to assist evolving and elevating digital experiences with a good understanding of current industry trends.
Transform ideas into creative, robust experiences under technology and time constraints, working closely with engineers and data teams.
Desired Qualifications:
Strong portfolio demonstrating responsive and scalable user-centered design solutions, industry experience in UI and UX design and has experience in using data, current trends, and finding ways to elevate design through research, testing and continuous learning.
1 to 2 years of UI/UX design experience, including but not limited to graphic and motion design.
Knowledge in creating clean, user-friendly interfaces that drives user engagement and improves the overall student experience using user behavior data.
Knowledge about design systems or any experience in building style guides and managing library assets.
Experience working closely with engineers and developers and having a shared vocabulary.
Experience bridging design and engineering into scalable solutions.
Ability to create motion graphics and animated videos.
Understanding of HTML, CSS and JS in addition to designing for bootstrap using responsive design.
Design operations knowledge and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS related field AND three (3) years of industry experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Must include or be able to show recent design project work in this area to be considered.
Salary Range:$69,000 - $75,000 per year; DOE
