POSITION SUMMARY

USA Lacrosse is looking for a Graphic Designer who will conceptualize, design, and produce visuals for a wide variety of print and digital mediums, including but not limited to event promotion, publications, print and digital ads, social media graphics, infographics, brochures, posters, retail designs, and graphics. In this role, you will work with our Art Director to create visually appealing and effective materials by partnering with departments throughout the organization to innovate and bring their ideas to life.

A Typical Day Looks Like…

Participates in kickoff meetings with internal customers to understand the scope of projects, identify solutions and priorities, obtain necessary information, determine deliverables, and set timelines.

Creates and designs polished, professional marketing materials according to project scope while using current graphic design trends and aesthetic layouts.

Provides excellent customer service while developing professional, creative, and effective solutions consistent with brand standards and established budgets and timelines.

Assists with the design of USA Lacrosse Magazine by designing certain sections of the magazine as directed.

Coordinates with print vendors and reviews the printing process to ensure quality and accuracy, escalating any issues to the Art Director.

Participates in team meetings and brainstorming sessions on projects to effectively rollout marketing campaigns.

Works closely with the marketing team to understand project requirements and ensure designs meet marketing goals, making recommendations to improve processes as appropriate.

Uses internal tools (i.e., Monday.com) to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting project deadlines, keeping stakeholders updated on any foreseeable issues.

Assists the Art Director in monitoring incoming design requests, planning and prioritizing, and maintaining open lines of communication with internal customers.

Organizes, coordinates, and names files appropriately for team members, vendors, and clients for easy access, updating SOPs as necessary.

Continuously learns to stay current on industry trends, best practices, design software, tools, and techniques to keep USA Lacrosse at the forefront of graphic design.

Is This You…

Two (2) to five (5) years of hands-on graphic design experience in a marketing or agency environment.

Mac OS proficiency required.

Extensive knowledge of industry-standard software, including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Intermediate to advanced computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel.

Strong attention to detail and understanding of typography, layout, color, and graphic design principles.

Strong portfolio of work with a wide range of creative projects; previous illustration and retail design experience is a plus.

Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, and print and digital marketing best practices.

Experience creating and editing print marketing materials, large format printing, packaging, digital ads, website assets, social media content, and illustrations.

Knowledge of pre-press and printing processes.

Openness to constructive feedback with the ability to pivot as needed.

Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines on budget.

Willingness to learn and bring creative ideas to the team.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid (in-office/remote) work environment.

Willingness to learn about lacrosse and appreciate the need for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Expected Hours of Work

This position is generally expected to work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and occasionally requires longer hours or weekend work related to events and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and works from the headquarters office in Sparks, MD three (3) days a week with the flexibility to work from home two (2) days a week.

Travel Requirements

Travel may be necessary up to 5% of the time (local, regional), involving travel by car, train, or air. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
