at Texas State University seeks an Assistant / Associate Professor of Lighting Design (Tenure Track or Nontenure Professor of Practice), starting fall 2025. The new hire will join a nationally recognized department with a dynamic faculty dedicated to a collaborative and innovative approach to teaching undergraduate and graduate students.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Teach graduate and undergraduate classes in lighting which may include topics related to design, Vectorworks, lighting technology, and programming.Advise student designers on realized production work.Recruit graduate students for MFA program.Participate in department season planning.Collaborate with the Design, Technology, and Management Area in support of current initiatives and new developments.Required Qualifications:For Assistant Professor Rank (Tenure Line):MFA in Theatre Design.Extensive and active record of professional lighting design experience in regional and/or commercial theatre.Strong Vectorworks Skills utilizing industry standard (Schematic, 3D, and Visualization).For Associate Professor Rank (Tenure Line):MFA in Theatre Design.Extensive and active record of professional lighting design experience in regional and/or commercial theatre; minimum of 7 years to be considered for Associate Rank.Strong Vectorworks Skills utilizing industry standard (Schematic, 3D, and Visualization).For Assistant Professor of Practice Rank:Minimum of 7 years professional lighting design experience.Extensive and active record of professional lighting design experience in regional and/or commercial theatre.Strong Vectorworks Skills utilizing industry standard (Schematic, 3D, and Visualization).For Associate Professor of Practice Rank:Minimum of 12 years professional lighting design experience.Extensive and active record of professional lighting design experience in regional and/or commercial theatre.Strong Vectorworks Skills utilizing industry standard (Schematic, 3D, and Visualization).The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and school established standards.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a secondary area of design.Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching Experience.Demonstrated record of mentorship of students and/or assistant designers.Demonstrated record of successful collaboration.Experience in non-theatrical applications of design.Experience utilizing latest lighting technologies.Application Procedures:For full consideration, applications should be received by
