Learn more about the general tasks related to this opportunity below, as well as required skills.KARE 11, the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, is looking for an Executive Producer to serve as a leader to our producers and keep innovating and elevating our newscasts. The role will be filled by a passionate, experienced journalist who is great at managing people and growing talent. The ideal candidate should love teaching and giving regular feedback, as we work to provide the very best news coverage possible across all platforms. This role will also be responsible for leading daily editorial conversations and making sure our content reflects the diverse communities we represent. This person should also be able to be a leader in the control room, assisting with breaking news and communication. They also need to be able to produce and booth a newscast, as needed. This critical team member will assist in other newsroom duties, such as coordinating with the assignment desk, digital team and fellow newsroom leaders.Responsibilities:
Work closely with newscast producers on creating unique shows with strong showcasing.Review and approve scripts and rundowns to ensure accuracy and quality.Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure they meet our strategic goals to fit our brand.Work collaboratively with other managers and perform tasks as required by the News Director and Assistant News Director.Job Requirements:
At least three years of newsroom leadership experience preferred.Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work flexible shifts, including holidays, mornings, evenings and weekends.Passion for growing journalists and fostering a creative and positive newsroom environment.Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills.Track record of quality journalism, high integrity, and ethical decision-making.Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, communications or related field a plus.Knowledge of AP, ENPS, Edius and content management systems a plus.Travel:
Rarely: less than 10%Work Environment Set:
Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.Physical Demands Set:
Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
