We live in a fast-paced creative world where we strive to be ahead of trends instead of chasing them. We are looking for an experienced Apparel Technical Designer. This position works closely with our design and product team, collaborating to build a broad spectrum of apparel garments across multiple product lines.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm

A Typical Day (job functions)

Facilitate the transition of apparel styles from design concept / first prototype to a final, production-ready sample offering solutions to correct fit and construction details for challenging styles.

Ability to understand grading rules.

Knowledge of fabric properties, trims, details.

Create tech packs in Excel, detailing construction call-outs, point of measurement specifications.

Responsible for maintaining product spec sheets and providing fit information based on company standards.

Update base size product specifications and POMs based on design revisions / sample / fit iterations / vendor collaboration.

Manage and organize incoming sample deliveries.

Analyze samples to determine compliance of spec, construction, fit and design intent.

Coordinate product fittings on models.

Research and resolve fit and construction issues using appropriate resources.

Identify and alert design and production teams of potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity is maintained.

Communicate any changes back to suppliers.

Initiate internal fabric testing for new fabrications.

Review size run requested for fit accuracy, grading relevance and product performance feedback.

Ensure continuous improvement of processes related to technical design.

Create a library of spec sheets to maintain fit consistency within product categories.

Manage physical sample library.

Ensure production quality and fit consistency.

Assure quality of production by documenting key measurement points and record/share data.

Assist in product presentations.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills (qualifications)

College degree in Fashion / Apparel required.

4+ years of technical design in apparel plus merchandising experience.

Knowledge of pattern making, grading, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.

Strong technical knowledge of fabrics, trims and sewing techniques / machines.

Understanding of Time & Action Calendars specific to products being developed.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Proficient computer skills: Adobe Illustrator, PLM, Microsoft Office- including Excel.

Experience with a variety of fabrics, primarily knits.

Understanding of apparel construction and manufacturing techniques.

Detail-oriented and strong work ethic.

Strong organizational skills and highly self-motivated.

Excellent written, problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management skills.

Ability to multi-task, problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
