This is a public environment on the campus of Alaska Pacific University and surrounding areas with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.).ResponsibilitiesPersonally monitors assigned areas using visual, electronic, or audible methods.Ensures actions comply with safety regulations.Verbally de-escalates situations to ensure safety.Examines doors, windows, and other areas to ensure security.Reports and records data such as property damage and unusual occurrences.Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.Assists in responding to emergencies or disasters.Notifies supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not met.May be assigned other duties pertinent to department success.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.At least two (2) years of security, law enforcement, or military experience.Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.Must obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to starting work.Able to cooperate and work as part of a team.Able to make decisions with little to no supervision.Able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift.Must speak, understand, read, and write English.Must adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsNoise level: Moderate to Loud. Environment will vary based on the facility assigned. Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Must frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift. Must work a rotational week on/week off schedule with 12-hour shifts.Customer Service
