We are currently searching for a

Senior News Video Editor/Camera Operator

to fill a full time ongoing contract position with our client, a 24-hour international public news media corporation.

Position is onsite in Washington, DC.

Candidates must be flexible for shifts to support a 24/7/365 environment.

About the Opportunity:

This position requires the ability to create high-quality news packages for broadcast. Applicants should be self-motivated, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all the leading professional video editing applications. Applicants are also expected to have an up-to-date knowledge with world news and current affairs.

This role reports to the Post Production Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Working in close collaboration with news producers to edit news packages and current affairs programming.Edit highly professional and polished video and audio content (including recording of voice over) to air in line with international industry standards.Liaise with news, archive, media management to ensure integrity of video and audio material throughout the news production workflow.Quality check each edited video and audio package for visual and audio errors and rectify, where necessary to avoid on air errors.Ability to edit quickly framing meaningful news stories for breaking news and on air turnarounds.Have an up-to-date knowledge with world news and current affairs.Perform playback of media direct from edit suite when required by PCR as a backup to normal play out servers.Apply the principles of visual storytelling through aesthetically pleasing and technically correct compositions, angles, and camera movements and making sure to deliver images with the correct exposure and color saturation.Plan and develop the visual presentation of the story in collaboration with the reporter assigned to the news story.Comply with and cover live/pre-recorded news or programs by filming sequences in continuity for editing purposes and as directed insuring of capturing the right frame compositions and following instructions as per news or program requirements.Perform camera line ups, matching camera parameters for color and exposure.Test the functionality of all necessary equipment before shooting live studio, location, and pre-recorded news or programs (i.e. camera, lenses, monitors, camera robotic system, CCU for each camera, lighting unit - LEDs, Fresnel, cool light, lighting deck)Operate multiple robotic camera control system.Monitor camera video level via a waveform monitor for quality control regarding luminance and chrominance levels - maintaining output to industry-set standards and settings.Control and balance lighting levels via the lighting desk/lighting control units.Arrange and set lighting for live/pre-recorded news, weather, or programs according to the Technical Director's instructions to ensure all color schemes conform to broadcast standards.Perform routine maintenance for all cameras and lighting equipment.Assembling raw footage and transferring or uploading to a computer.Following a script, screenplay or outline.Other Responsibilities:

Available to be deployed in the field and other broadcast centers during demanding news events.Coordinate with the maintenance team in case of needed maintenance to equipment.Perform other duties relevant to the job as requested across the network.Skills:

A minimum of 5 years' experience working as a non-linear video editor in a television news environment.Must be able to shoot via a camera.Fluency in Arabic.Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Film, Media and Journalism or related fields Diploma preferred.Long-form craft editing experience.Pay Range:

$50 - $55 per hour.
