REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.
We are backed by the world’s best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $9B in orders from some of the industry’s largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.
Reporting to the Principal Structures Engineer, as a
Senior Mechanical Designer , you will be embedded in the engineering team, and rapidly turn concepts into 3D models and drawings in NX. You will be a crucial team member, turning design concepts into manufacturing-ready drawings for REGENT’s seagliders.
You will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge, experience, and creativity to maintain, upgrade, and expand the Seimens NX, Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), and other CAD PDM/Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) systems in a young organization. You will develop, implement, and maintain CAD standards, templates, libraries, configurations, and workflows.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Rapidly turn concepts into 3D models and drawings in NX
Review Technical Drawings for accuracy and provide feedback on manufacturability
Use Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM software to create models and manage data; design and analyze product components
Perform as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Engineering Design, Drafting, and modeling standards
Participate in the creation of Part Families, including support of Mechanical and Electrical Routing applications (Tubing, Ducting, Harnessing)
Advise, prepare, and deliver training to engineers
Possess a full understanding and knowledge of Bills of Materials
Coordinate with external vendors to support, troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance CAD, PDM, and PLM systems
Review and help improve the engineering data organization, templates, and data management processes
Support cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain users and stakeholders
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Associate's degree and 5+ years of relevant technical experience, ideally in the aerospace industry
At least 5 years of experience working in a hardware new product development and/or manufacturing engineering organization
Strong experience implementing, maintaining, customizing, and upgrading Seimens NX
Experience with Configuration Management from engineering to prototype and production manufacturing
Prior experience in PLM concepts and functionalities, familiarization with design best practices, industry standards, and drawing/drafting standards
Proof of excellent written communication and technical writing skills
Thrive in ambiguous and fast-changing environments, passionate about technology and using best practices to develop cutting-edge systems while promoting efficiency within a business
Desired Qualifications & Skills:
Experience with Capital, Altium, or other Electrical CAD software
Scripting and some programming experience (e.g. PDM/PLM automation)
Interest and background in Knowledge and Configuration Management concepts and systems
Bonus Points:
Experience with Atlassian, especially customization of JIRA (workflows, screens, fields, DB)
Basic experience with SQL databases (management, set-up, GUIs, scripting for data import/export/synchronization)
Some experience with APIs for CAD PDM, PLM systems, ERP systems, and JIRA
Ability to work in a fast-paced design and development environment
Work schedule may vary depending on program development needs; flexibility required
FAA pilot’s license or boating/sailing experience
