Peloton
Senior Game UX/UI Designer
Peloton, New York, New York, us, 10261
The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton Game Studio is looking for a Senior UX / UI designer. After the success of our first game Lanebreak (a music game for Peloton indoor bikes and treadmills) we're now deep into development of a totally different style of game, which we think cyclists and runners in particular will love.
Your UX brain and UI design chops will help us elevate the craft of our fitness games. Our games engage, empower, and immerse players pursuing their own fitness and training goals. As such, this UX first role requires a blend of game and product design thinking. It's a wonderful opportunity to swing for the fences and make a real impact.
Our team is hybrid and remote. Around half of us work hybrid from Peloton HQ in NYC, and half fully remote (mostly in the USA). Collaboration is paramount within our company culture. The ideal candidate will relish the opportunity to problem solve and conceptualize alongside the team, share ongoing work, and actively seek feedback. Join us making the world a healthier place through fitness gaming!
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
Convert requirements & vision into solid UX strategies and designs
Absorb and improve our current UX design principles and UI patterns
Take complex problems and convert them into simple solutions, making complexity easier to understand for the user. We're up against their body and brain telling them not to work out and don't want any part of the UX to make it harder!
Advocate for user needs in all design discussions, closely partnering with user research & product
Drive forward UX design processes such as personas, journey mapping, information architecture, wireframes, interaction design, and prototyping
Research best-in-class products and keep your finger on the pulse of fitness, sports, and gaming
Capture and clearly document all states, edge-cases, and path logic for engineering teams
Collaborate effectively with partners across engineering, design, game design, art, content, user research, audio, product, production/TPM, and QA
Regularly create and present Figma wireframes and prototypes to team leads and other stakeholders, revising, testing, and iterating solutions to ensure the highest quality results
Maintain a deep investment in ensuring our players have the best possible experience while achieving their fitness goals
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
5+ years of professional UX/UI design experience (including 3+ years on video games / immersive experiences)
Shipped 2+ games/mobile apps as a professional UX/UI Designer (excluding academic projects)
Must have a UX focused portfolio showing high quality UX/UI design thinking and process; we're particularly interested in examples that showcase your ability to simplify complexity
Experience designing for various screen sizes and platforms
Proven proficiency with Figma to create wireframes and prototypes
Ability to conceptualize multi-state, multi-path interaction systems
Familiarity with agile software development on a cross-discipline game development team
Bonus: domain expertise in cycling and/or running
Bonus: alternative control input experience (e.g. exercise equipment, AR/VR)
Bonus: Unity / game engine UI prototyping and/or implementation experience
Bonus: experience incorporating motion/animation into UI and interaction design
