If you are considering sending an application, make sure to hit the apply button below after reading through the entire description.Use advanced experience and knowledge of planning and design to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.Conduct data gathering, research, and creative exploration.Analyze sites, programs, and other key project elements through quantitative and qualitative means.Develop analytical and design drawings throughout the design process using analog (through sketching and physical modeling) and digital means (through digital analyses, sketching, and modeling).Strategize, outline, mockup, and develop design documentation including master plan reports, design guidelines, and client-ready presentation materials.Coordinate all aspects of project deliverables.Review, evaluate, and integrate zoning and policy requirements into project design.Develop strategies for key urban frameworks and systems including but not limited to circulation, open space, buildings, and infrastructure.Perform advanced development calculations according to specified standards and proposed development controls.Lead project-related client discussions and presentations.Assist with project-related public discussions and presentations.Take increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.Implement responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely and consistent way.Support growth of others.Exercise creative judgment in all aspects of the design process.Proactively ask questions and express curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.Participate actively within collaborative team settings such as casual team interactions, design charrettes, reviews, and pin-ups.Keep open communication within the team and with designated team leader.Communicate ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.Effectively coordinate with other design partners and consultants.Self-check work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.Complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of work, schedule, and budget, in an organized, timely and consistent way.To join us, you should have:5-8+ years of Urban Design experienceA bachelor’s degree in urban design, landscape, architecture, or related discipline requiredProficiency in site and design research, including site analytics and planning/zoning code analyticsProficiency in concept and detailed design studies, production of drawings and deliverables, hand-drawn and digital sketching, computational analysisFunctional knowledge of various software and tools, including 2D/3D production (Revit, Rhino), digital sketching/diagramming (Illustrator), analytical tools (ArcGIS, Grasshopper), visualization tools (Enscape, VRay), and physical model making.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation tools (InDesign, PowerPoint).Preparing for professional licenseWorking on AICP certificationLEED GA within 6 months of hireProfessional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation.Qualified and interested candidates should submit a resume and a portfolio of urban design work.
