Chief Photographer
who can lead the creation of shareable and exciting content for our broadcast and digital platforms. We are seeking a photojournalist who can tell great stories on their own or with a team. In this role, you will lead and mentor our staff of talented photojournalists and editors. You will also train and coach our multi-skilled journalists and help grow 11Alive's drone program.
The ideal candidate is not a novice. You've worked in the trenches. You are familiar with the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques. You will inspire our team to create unique and exciting content on all platforms. You are proficient with live news-gathering tools and can participate in live performances on-air and on live streaming when necessary. You must also be eager to help grow and develop journalists in one of the most dynamic, growing, and diverse news markets.

This is an exempt position reporting to the News Director.
Responsibilities:
Train, manage, evaluate, and help develop a team of photojournalists, visual storytellers, multi-skilled journalists, and editors
Manage news gathering equipment and fleet of vehicles
Manage equipment budgets and schedule staff
Manage non-linear asset storage
Lead field logistics and planning of special events coverage
Operate non-linear edit systems
Produce original content on-air and on all digital platforms that evokes emotion
Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
Oversee video library and support archive digitization
Work closely with the rest of the news management team for both short-term and long-term planning
Oversee drone program as the station's drone "champion"
Identify technical difficulties and partner with our engineering department to create innovative solutions
Perform other tasks as required by News Director
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in journalism and/or communications, or related equivalent experience
At least 8 years' in television as a photographer or editor
Previous experience as a chief photographer or similar leadership role
Experience with Edius and Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere & After Effects) preferred
Ability to prioritize and address multiple projects with varying production timelines
Certification as a drone pilot and enthusiasm to train others, a must
Must be energetic, positive and a great team builder and leader
Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to work well alone and as part of a team
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Familiarity with Atlanta or a reason to locate here will set your application apart
