Senior Structural Designer

in our

Dallas, TX

office. As a

Senior Structural Designer , you will be responsible for the overall, multi-discipline supervision of assigned projects. You will typically be responsible for a large project or several small projects with many complex features.Some key duties and responsibilities include:Responsible for complete design by discipline for projects of all sizes;Makes major design recommendations and design decisions with little input from senior staff;Plans design work, calculates costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects;Coordinates design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers;Maintains project design notebook and provides documentation data for permanent project files;Acts as an advisor and reviews correspondence prepared by junior project team members;Evaluates project staffing requirements, analyzes problems, and writes reports;Attends project meetings, or when appropriate, can request junior staff to attend;Meets with clients, prepares proposals and presentations while maintaining good client relations.Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings;Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structures;Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software;Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups;Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise;Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.Education and experience requirements are:Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred;11 years of qualifying experience; 12 preferred.So, what are you waiting for?
