Gables Residential is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated and creative design professional to work with our in-house design team who can manage a range of Multi-family projects across multiple markets.
The Design Manager is a member of the Design Team, an Investments team department, responsible for supporting new construction projects for Class A multi-family projects – scope includes building exterior, amenity spaces (interior and exterior), landscape, common areas, and units. This will require working with the VP/Director of Design and Design Team, Developers, Construction Team, and consultants to coordinate with project architects, general contractors, and sub-contractors, as well as develop relationships with manufacturers, product representatives, and related services.
Compensation: $110,000-$135,000 base plus bonus plan. Health and retirement benefits available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture.
Experience: 7 - 15 years’ experience working in Multi-family architecture firm, with a minimum of 2-3 years project management experience. Solid understanding of program requirements and finishes for multi-family or hospitality projects as well as experience in CA, consultant management, and submittals review processes. Previous experience leading a team and effectively managing other design team members is highly preferred.
Computer proficiency required – AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Photoshop, PowerPoint, Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel.
SKILLS / JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position may be based in either Denver or Dallas based on candidate preference and requires the ability to travel 10 – 30%, nationally and locally, with a focus on Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Denver markets.
Excellent communication skills, organization, and time management skills;
Ability to coordinate and track finish selections for interior and exterior spaces;
Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and technical details;
Ability to communicate with outside consultants including architects, interior designers, sign designers, graphic designers, etc.;
Ability to communicate graphically;
Ability to provide critical feedback on design, and propose alternate solution ideas as needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Track and coordinate FF+E packages for development deals;
Travel, including site visits and meetings;
Work with graphics and signage firms on collaterals and signage packages;
Coordinate with art consultants for project installations;
Provide critical feedback for renderings and marketing graphics;
Construction administration and coordination with the construction team;
Other projects as assigned (may include renovation/capex assistance).
