JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for supervising the design team and providing leadership, training, and project management of design activities for the Commercial Vehicle Engineering group. Effectively delegates tasks, mitigates risks, and takes measured responsibility for design team's performance. Responsible for related administrative tasks such as budget compliance and time approvals. Guides CAD design team to prepare and support automotive/chassis designs of complex components and associated moderate/complex vehicle sub-systems. Occasionally prepares math data files for design studies, components, assembly models, required drawings, layouts/installation assemblies (IAs), and instruction drawings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises the design team and guides the preparation of new design models using Siemens NX (NX). May occasionally prepare new designs. Collaborates and receives guidance from the Product Design Engineers, Managers/Program Planning team. Provides guidance to Design Leads.

2. Assists Manager / Director with scheduling and workload planning estimates. Negotiates workload prioritization and reports on design team progress to meet department goals.

3. Tracks drawing releases for compliance to program timing dates. Resolves release system/subsystem conflicts to meet program requirements with quality and 'on time' performance.

4. Facilitates and participates in design/virtual reviews, both scheduled and informal, as required.

5. Supports annual performance evaluations to support Manager / Director. Helps maintain balanced skill sets in design team, recommends On-the-Job training for design staff as needed.

6. Occasionally prepares detailed drawings (2D) and installation assemblies (IAs) using Siemens NX/MS software to support design team workload

7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in automotive design or related field, or equivalent directly related work experienceMinimum seven years of experience in automotive product/component designMinimum three years' experience in a lead roleMinimum five years' experience in NX and TeamcenterExperience in Teamcenter workflow, Check-Mate, and GM DCS environmentMinimum one year experience in design team/project coordination or Drawing Checking preferredSiemens NX, version 2312 and Teamcenter 14 or above preferredKNOWLEDGE

Chassis system knowledge: structure/body, chassis structures, exhaust, induction, controls, electrical wiring and powertrain integrationAdvanced skill set in NX, Teamcenter, P2P/Trubiquity, Vis Mockup, math release process and data managementWorking knowledge of CAE and GD&TSKILLS & ABILITIES

PHYSICAL STANDARDS

The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less.

Pay scale for this position is between $102,304 and $130,438. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
