About the BallersThe Oakland Ballers are a professional baseball team in Oakland, CA, and are part of the independent Pioneer Baseball League. The Ballers played their inaugural season in the Summer of 2024, including making it to the playoffs, and are gearing up for their 2025 season. The Oakland Ballers baseball team is dedicated to bringing baseball back to Oakland. We believe in the power of sports to bring people together and are committed to making Oakland a championship city once again.The position: Digital Marketing SpecialistReporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the Digital Marketing Specialist position is a full-time, hybrid position in Oakland, CA.During the baseball season (May-October) this position requires availability to work all home-games on-site in Oakland, CA. During the off-season, it is a hybrid position in Oakland, CA.The Digital Marketing Specialist will be responsible for contributing to marketing strategy and will own the execution of marketing emails, paid media, audience targeting, website posts, audience data management, digital asset management, and all co-worker, league, affiliate, and other relationships required to facilitate marketing execution.You'll work closely with a Social Media Manager, team photographers/videographers, the CMO, Press/PR co-workers, the Community Relations Lead, our Sponsorships team, the founders, and others to raise awareness about the Ballers, inform existing and new customers about our games and promotions, and achieve our organization's marketing goals.Your background might be in math and statistics, or computer science, graphic design, writing, marketing, or something else. This role requires both analytical thinking and creativity.DutiesUsing Marketing to increase ticket, merch, and food sales, to keep our fans informed about our team, to build brand awareness, and to acquire new customersExecuting marketing tasks in a timely mannerWriting Marketing CopyConstructing simple and complex audience targeting queriesManaging all aspects of email marketingExporting and importing data between systems frequently, and monitoring automated integrationsFostering a healthy email list: Maintaining a high open-rate in our email marketing, and maintaining a good reputation with email service providersFrequent graphics updates, iterations, and executions using pre-made templatesManaging paid media spends, creative, timing, and execution in Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Ads, and other digital paid mediaOwning and evangelizing best practices for URL query parameter tracking codes and using them to the highest fidelity possibleExecuting SMS/Email blastsA/B and Split Testing of Email/SMS variables (subject, preview text, copy, images, etc)Website Content updatesOwning the Digital Asset Management system for organizing photos, setting best practices, promoting its usage, training photographers/videographers and others in how to use it, and making sure that all our assets are properly tagged, indexed, described, etc.Getting and organizing photos from other teams / photographers when we don't have our own photographer at a game (mostly away games)Making sure tagging and analytics best practices are followed, and making sure we're gathering clear acquisition, source, affiliate, attribution, and conversion data.Making sure that game highlight video snips are tagged, labeled, stored, and shared appropriately for every gameWorking with contractors to help achieve marketing and sales goals, including graphic designers.Assist in occasional direct-mail efforts, including targeting, coordination, performance tracking, metrics, etc.Optimizing images for delivery via email, web, social, and paid media.Abiding by our brand's voice, tone and style guides for graphics and copy.Other tasks as assigned by the Chief Marketing Officer and other Officers in the organization.QualificationsExperience in Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Brand Management, Communications, Graphic Design, Economics, Math, Statistics, or other related fieldExperience segmenting/targeting audiences to optimize marketing efforts for paid and unpaid campaignsExperience with at least one digital marketing system that uses audience targeting (Meta Ad Account, MailChimp, Constant Contact, HubSpot, SalesForce, Klaviyo, etc)Ability to hand-code basic HTMLExperience using website content management systemsExcellent analytical skills and experience with social media metrics and analytics toolsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, especially copywriting for marketing.Experience and comfort with at least one graphic design program, like Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or FigmaDemonstrated interest in learning new software programs, new graphic design tools, and new skillsExperience using Google SheetsAbility to work independently and with a team, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectivelyExperience independently owning a business process at an organization that includes promoting and policing best practices among co-workersNice-To-HavesBachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Business or a related field, or the equivalent work experienceExperience using a social media planning/scheduling platform (HootSuite, Metricool, Later, ContentStudio, Sprout Social, Loomly, etc)Ability to shoot and edit videoExperience working in sportsUnderstanding of the rich cultural landscape of Oakland and sports in OaklandSALARY BAND: $50,000 to $75,000 / year, depending on a number of factors including work experience and qualifications.We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.Job Questions:Please list the digital marketing software tools/platforms you have experience with (up to 5).Have you placed paid ads on Meta through the Meta Ads Manager before?Have you segmented audiences in an email marketing tool?Have you used a website content management system before?Over the past two years, how often have you created an image/graphic using a graphic design software tool like Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Figma, etc?
