ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWBoys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 5,400 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEWReporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Writer is an essential part of our Advancement team. You will work collaboratively with the Advancement Team, the Impact & Measurement Team, and program staff to communicate BGCP's impact to institutional funders. (Institutional Funders include government, foundations, and corporations) Your two most important tasks will be: 1) creating compelling grant proposals and 2) high quality, timely reporting to our funders. Your critical ongoing activities will include funder research, extensive writing, gathering and reviewing program input & data, and project management.

As the ideal candidate, you are a gifted writer and love crafting stories. You are in tune with what makes a message compelling, whether it's data or a story about a specific program's impact on a student. You have a high attention to detail, a drive to always make things better, and an aptitude for managing uncertainty.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal and Report Writing

Core focus on developing compelling grant proposals that are highly tuned to funder's priorities and reflect BGCP's strengthsBe the owner of institutional funder reporting requirements. Be dialed in to deadlines, plan ahead, and produce high quality reports that ensure continued funding and exceed funder expectationsPartner with the Impact & Measurement Team and Program Team to gather outcome and impact data as well as success stories for use in proposals and reportsProject Management Coordination

Collaborate with internal teams to establish and communicate deadlines, ensuring effective oversight and management of all aspects related to proposal development, submission, and reportingYour project planning skills minimize unnecessary fire drills, offer lead time to our internal teams, and result in greater efficiency and higher quality proposals and reports*Support other Advancement activities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of similar or equivalent work experienceExperience in nonprofit development, fundraising, program management, communications, or related field strongly preferredExcellent oral and written communication skills is a plusThrive in a dynamic setting with fluctuating demands and unpredictable challenges, demonstrating adaptabilityAbility to take initiative and work independently, while also being a dependable team playerExperience with donor management software (i.e., Raiser's Edge) is a plusConsistently applies a meticulous approach to ensure accuracy and precision in all tasks and documentationAbility to work independently while maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with funders, colleagues, and leadershipLOCATION
