Framatome is seeking a Scientist/Chemist for our Horn Rapids Road office in Richland, Washington.

The Analytical Services function supports nuclear fuel and reactor control component manufacturing by performing analyses of products for chemical and mechanical properties. The Analytical Services laboratories are equipped with a wide range of instrumental analyses (LECO analyzers for H, N, C&S, ICP-MS and multiple Agilent ICP-MS and ICP-OES, Nu mass spectrometers, Bruker XRF,Thermo ion chromatograph, Shimadzu gas chromatograph, Dupont electrolysis, VaporPro, CEM microwave prep, etc.) and wet chemistry capabilities (e.g. titration, ion sensitive electrodes). Analytical Services also uses Thermo Fisher Scientifc SampleManager LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software for sample tracking, results recording and reporting.

The Scientist/Chemist will be part of a diverse team of lab technicians and chemists and will fill a key role in the development of analytical methods, qualification of analytical instrumentation as well as trouble-shooting and technical support of the assigned instruments. This role also includes maintaining the functionality and reliability of the LIMS system.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Ensures personal and workplace compliance with company and regulatory agency policies that protect employee and public health and safety.

Provides client input regarding the use of scientific analysis of complex and multidisciplinary problems and processes.

Interprets results, prepares reports, provides technical advice in specalized area and backup for other areas.

May lead projects and works on special projects, as directed.

Manages LIMS and its interfaces with other manufacturing IT systems.

Required Skills Required Experience

ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biological, Physical, Applied Science or Engineering plus a minimum of 4 years of related work experience. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge in a particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments

THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

Willingness to learn and become proficient in administration of Sample Manager LIMS, including its interfaces with other manufacturing systems

Five or more years experience with one or more applicable instrumental analyses methods, ideally within the nuclear industry.

Experience working in a regulated industry

Strong software and computer systems experience, ideally some programming skills

Experience with LIMS software or other complex software

OUR TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE

The range of base salary for the position is between $86,000 - $117,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.

Qualifications:Demonstrated expertise with interpersonal and communication skills

Proficient PC skills including Microsoft software

Demonstrated organization and problem solving skills

Maintenance and/or Operations background

Comprehensive understanding of plant operations

Detail oriented and multi-tasking capabilities

DOE “L” clearance or ability to obtain a DOE “L” clearance
