Senior Web Developer

to join our Tools Development team in Mountain View. US Citizenship is required. The Web Developer will support COTS, Open Source, and internally developed software and websites for various applications and tools that support the HPC system and its users. The candidate will be responsible for developing and building of web sites and front-end applications, installing and configuring solutions, implementing reusable components, translating technical requirements, assisting with all stages of test data, and performing script maintenance and updates. You will also be expected to enhance performance via gap analysis, identifying the most practical alternative solutions and assisting modifications. The individual at this skill level must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop complex websites and front-end applications, have a strong understanding of the functionality of computer systems/operating systems and be able to identify and solve unique problems associated with a complex web environment.Duties and Responsibilities:Developing new user-facing features and functionalityImplementing visual elements and user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptEnsuring websites and applications meet NASA standards for accessibility, security, and reliabilityCollaborating with back-end developers, designers, and stakeholders to achieve web project goalsMaintaining and improving existing websites and applicationsDay-to-day operations within the Tools Group and assigned projectsWork on complex projects to integrate new tools and features into legacy web applicationsBuild/maintain automated deployments through the use of configuration managementSupport and maintain websites and web applications provided by the Tools TeamDeploy new modules and upgrades and complete fixes within the production environmentProactively monitor, analyze, and correct application and website issuesDeveloping scripts to automate repetitive tasks or tools to enhance supportApplication performance analysis and tuningParticipate in and/or Lead Project Planning meetings while providing guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefitsDevelop operational requirements and development forecastsRotating on shift support and after hours support as requiredCreate/maintain documentation and curate solutions repository to include, but not limited to internal wikis and knowledgebasesOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor degree in computer science or related field with demonstrated experienceA minimum of 5 years of development experience in project team environmentsStrong background in using Linux systemsDemonstrated proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScriptUnderstanding of responsive design and standards-based designKnowledge of browser testing and debuggingExperience creating prototypes, mockups, and technical documentationExperience preparing images and video for delivery on websitesExperience with front-end frameworks and libraries like React, Vue, jQuery, D3Familiarity with source control tools like gitGood organization skills to balance and prioritize work, and ability to multitaskGood communication skills and can communicate effectively with staff, customers, and managersStrong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as within a group settingAbility to effectively manage and lead moderately complex projectsUS citizenship is required for a NASA Public Trust ClearancePreferred Skills:Experience working with Apache and/or NGINX web serversExperience improving accessibility of existing websitesExperience developing and maintaining JavaScript front-end applicationsExperience with PHP and backend frameworks such as Django or FlaskExperience with Perl and porting to modern frameworksExperience with Ruby on Rails (ROR) web frameworkAble to use source control tools and continuous integration tools (Jenkins, etc.) and methodsAbility to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud servicesASRC Federal and its Subsidiaries are Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employers.
