Strategic Communications Specialist
to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in Reston, VA. In this role, you will design, develop, and produce impactful communication materials that support national defense and security initiatives. You will play a key role in shaping both internal and external messaging, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and enhancing transparency and collaboration through effective information sharing.
As a Strategic Communications Specialist, you will advise on communication strategies, develop newsletters, website content, briefings, executive summaries, and marketing materials, and work with subject matter experts to facilitate user and stakeholder engagements. Your efforts will directly contribute to advancing DTRA’s mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies and materials aligned with national defense priorities.
Create and manage content for newsletters, websites, briefings, talking points, and executive summaries.
Advise leadership on strategic communication best practices and coordinate communication efforts across various channels.
Work closely with subject matter experts to facilitate stakeholder engagements and foster collaborative environments.
Shape and nurture client relationships, maintaining mission partnerships and transparency in communications.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of experience with Strategic Communications, with 3+ years in a client-facing role
Experience with the DoD community
Excellent analysis and data gathering skills
Experience with the complete Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint
Desired Skills & Qualifications
3+ years of experience in working directly with senior leaders
Experience working in a technology or IT field
Experience with JIRA or Content Management Systems
