The Marketing Director at Southlands is responsible for working with the property management team to oversee the shopping center’s advertising, event management, social media, tenant outreach and public relations efforts as well as strategic oversight of the Center Brand in a manner that is consistent with Ownership’s vision of the property.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Creates and manages the annual strategic marketing plan marketing budget and subsequent monthly reforecasts to track spending. Prepares monthly reports to track the ROI of marketing activities such as public relations, social media, events/promotions and sales.

Designs and implements large-scale special events and promotions including working with local groups and businesses to plan community events for the property.

Responsible for the development and execution of the property’s brand identity via advertising. In conjunction with an advertising agency, design and implement all print, digital and on-site collateral in service to the brand.

Handles all public relations efforts including writing press releases, pitching media and responding to crisis management, in conjunction with a local PR firm as needed.

Implements and oversees promotional activities to drive engagement, participation and/or sales activity.

Develops, manages and executes digital and social media initiatives including annual social media plan to include curating fresh content, images, promotions and analysis/reporting. Social media platforms include Facebook, Instagram, TikTok.

Oversees billing and invoice approval and payment in the Avid system.

Establishes and maintains positive alliances with tenants. Holds regular tenant meetings, calls and in-person meetings with tenants to understand their sales performance.

Represents Southlands at various tourism, retail and community organizations that are important to Southlands.

Other duties as assigned.

Core Skills and Characteristics:

Comprehensive understanding of the various areas of marketing and familiarity with common marketing practices and principles.

Strong writing and editing/proofing skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and effectively and establish priorities.

Strong organizational, project and time management skills and the ability to work and learn independently and in a team situation.

Demonstrate impeccable attention to detail.

Skilled communicator with good verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills; consistently communicates on project progress, discusses challenges and opportunities, proactively seeks out and accepts guidance and support.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Publisher).

Education/Experience:

A minimum of 5 years marketing and/or retail experience required.

Degree in marketing, communications or business preferred.
