We offer a wide range of professional graduate programs, including Oregon’s top-ranked MBA program, the Northwest’s oldest law school, as well as MA/MFA programs at PNCA and master’s degrees in data science and computer science.The Pacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University (PNCA) is seeking a highly energetic, inclusive, and committed educator and professional to teach courses and contribute to the ongoing growth of the BFA program in Graphic Design.Special skills in one or more of the following areas is desired:Interaction Design and UX/UI , with experience teaching and designing for new technology;3D and Motion Graphics , with experience creating and teaching 3D rendering techniques and motion within the context of graphic or communication design;Graphic Design and Art Direction , with the potential to help shape core courses such as typography and brand development.This position will report to the undergraduate Graphic Design Department Chair. The primary professional responsibilities of full-time instructional faculty members are teaching; research, scholarship and/or creative activity (professional practice); as well as service to the College and larger University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities generally include developing and enhancing curriculum, advising students, participation in campus and University-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, building external partnerships and industry relationships, and maintaining a vibrant creative practice in the region and beyond.Overview of Duties

Teach five courses a year (3/2), including core department offerings as well as newly developed courses in area of expertise.Help maintain instructional standards and outcomes across curriculum and syllabi.Foster a pedagogical approach to Design that draws from professional experience and is informed by critical perspectives, interdisciplinary approaches, and innovative practices.Build and develop curriculum, in collaboration with the Department Chair and aligned with departmental and University-wide priorities.Mentor undergraduate students; provide academic and career advising.Collaborate with the Department Chair of Graphic Design, faculty leadership, and peers in development of department policies, curriculum content, and evaluation methods.Minimum Qualifications

Evidence of successful teaching and mentorship experience relevant to the position.Demonstrated experience in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, teaching environment.Demonstrated track record of scholarship or industry experience that evidences leading-edge, applied work in areas of design expertise.Evidence of successful design for accessibility.Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experiencePlanned Start Date: August, 2025Position will remain open until filled; applications should be received by 12/01/2024 for full consideration.WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY VALUES DIVERSITY:
