The call letters stand for Welcome To Our City.Job Summary/Description:WTOC is looking for an executive producer who will lead our evening newscasts and crew to success daily, understanding that viewers are looking for more at 7 pm and 11 pm than just a recap of the day’s stories. For more than 70 years, WTOC has been THE news for coastal Georgia and South Carolina. This role is responsible for overseeing our weekday evening newscasts (6p, 7p, 11p) and our digital news streams.Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):Work with show producers, directors, field crews, and digital producers for the best showcasing, live shots, and digital collaboration in the marketPlan effectively to provide more content and elevate production valuesWrite, and teach staff to write, in a captivating, relevant, and authentic mannerScript approval under tight deadlines across all WTOC platformsStay current on both local and national news eventsAssist with the hiring of employeesAssist management team with planning of future projects, elections, and other special eventsQualifications/Requirements:Above all else, this position requires curiosity about the world around you. An awareness of the world around you and strong news judgment are crucial.Two to three years of producing experienceBS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background/industry experienceFlexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shiftsLead and inspire news teams to work together for a great newscastAggressively react/respond to breaking newsDemonstrated ability of good news judgment and journalistic integrityAbility to handle legal concerns pertaining to newscast contentTeach staff to develop content through social media and independent sourcesQualified candidates will have experience working closely with the digital team to create content on all platforms.Must be strong at multi-tasking and attentive to the details but also possess solid people/management skills.Must be creative, a great writer, and can enterprise beyond the news of the day.If you feel you’re qualified and want to work with a great group of people, you may apply through https://gray.tv/careers#currentopenings.
