The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.Design - TechnicalPatterns / Marking / GradingMid to Senior LevelASSOCIATE DESIGNER We are a design & development company in the Arts District in Los Angeles. We create lifestyle collections monthly and bi-monthly for both large and small retailers/boutiques. We specialize in private and branded labels. We have an opening for an experienced, motivated and creative design associate to join our team in a fun, fast-paced environment! This position reports directly to the Senior Designer and is responsible for assisting in all research, design + development aspects of our collection. This person will plan + execute many of the tasks that revolve around designing & producing a sample line.Position responsibilities and daily tasks:Assist in conceptualizing and creating inspired and effective product for all monthly deliveries.Able to execute a category or entire collection on deadline.Keep detailed records of all pieces in the collection, pass accurate info to other departments.Create moodboards, technical flats and line sheets.Set up swatch and print packages.Source and choose materials for product with some guidance.Work with Patternmaking + Sewing teams to execute line samples.Build CADs/Tech Packs.Work with dye, wash + screen print houses to dye + develop new fabric washes + other art.Maintain awareness of design calendar + all deadlines.Qualifications:Min 3-5 years experience in a design room.Understands garment development process, fabrics, patterns and construction.Strong ability to clearly communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through tech pack creation and CADs.Strong ability to design within cost parameters/wearability.Highly inspired, motivated by fashion - including shopping, social media, runway trends.Self-motivated, positive and dependable attitude.Good communicator, approachable, easy to work with.Exceptional communication and organizational skills.Effective time management and ability to stay organized.Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment.Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is a must.Intermediate knowledge of fabrics across categories.We offer health insurance and 401K benefits!
