Discover more about what we offer by visiting our Benefits page.A Day In The LifeThe Director, Communications, reporting to Chief Strategy Officer / SVP, is responsible for developing, leading, and executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance Gulf States Toyota's brand, foster internal and external stakeholder engagement and understanding, and support business objectives. The audience for these communications primarily includes dealers, internal GST, and TMNA. This position will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure innovative, insightful, and effective internal and external communications that support and advance the understanding of GST's core business strategy among key stakeholders. This role requires leadership in media relations, crisis communications, content creation, public relations, and internal communications.As a Director, Communications you will:Strategic Communications Planning:Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with the organization's vision, goals, and values. Ensure consistent messaging across all channels. Anticipate external communication needs and plan campaigns around key events, product launches, or industry trends. Tailor messages to different audiences, such as customers, partners, or associates, depending on their relationship with the organization. Use a combination of traditional media (press releases, advertising) and digital channels (social media, blogs, email newsletters) to reach a broad audience.Content Creation & Management:Oversee the development of high-quality content, including speeches, blog posts, newsletters, reports, and press releases. Ensure the content reflects the organization’s tone and key messages. Coordinate projects as needed with internal/external partners (TFG corporate, marketing, government relations, etc. as needed).Internal Communications:Collaborate with HR and leadership teams to develop and implement internal communications programs that keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational priorities.Crisis Communication:Lead crisis communication efforts by developing plans, coordinating responses, and managing communications during critical situations to protect the organization’s reputation.Brand Management:Ensure consistent use of brand voice and messaging across all communications platforms. Work with marketing teams to align external communication with branding efforts.Stakeholder Engagement:Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.Measurement & Reporting:Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns. Present findings and recommendations to the executive team for continuous improvement. Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.Media Relations:Coordinate press releases, interviews, and public statements.What We Need From YouRequires a bachelor's degree with 10+ years’ experience in corporate communications or a related field or possess an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A Master’s degree is preferred.Proven track record in developing and executing successful communication strategies.Strong understanding of media relations and crisis communications.Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Expertise in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.Able to effectively communicate in formal and informal settings.Demonstrated ability and eagerness to champion key initiatives within an organization in addition to building consensus.Ability to work under pressure and handle complex situations with professionalism.Possesses exceptional organizational and project management skills to ensure the wide variety of activities under care are blended seamlessly and integrated strategically.Preferred:Experience in Automotive Industry.Familiarity with brand management.Proficiency with data-driven communication strategies.Experience in crisis communications.Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus.
