The Senior Manager, Oncology Product Communications is responsible for the development of integrated communication and public affairs (C&PA) strategies to support our Oncology portfolio and unbranded disease awareness initiatives. In this role, the senior manager will focus on accelerating growth for the brands to further strengthen and differentiate our oncology portfolio value proposition. Further developing and managing relationships within the cancer care community as well as patient and HCP influencers will be a critical part of this role. The role reports to the Communications & Public Affairs Leader, Oncology Product Communications, Hematology.

They will also lead anticipated product launches, line extensions, FDA filings and other branded media activities across the Hematology portfolio as well as unbranded multicultural campaigns and initiatives intended to raise awareness of cancer-related health inequities among underserved communities in North America.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement innovative communication and public affairs strategies and programs in support of brand business objectives for the US oncology portfolio.

Lead all external and internal multicultural communication efforts for unbranded disease awareness.

Deepen awareness of J&J’s commitment in oncology and identify storytelling and engagement opportunities that elevate our portfolio of products with hematologists & oncologists.

Develop and implement thought leadership programs that elevate J&J’s position in oncology and enhance our reputation within the community oncology setting.

Build partner trust through proactive advocacy efforts, with a key focus on engaging and supporting the patient advocate communities.

Proactively drive business and Enterprise outcomes by identifying and applying key outcomes metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that drive confidence, integration and alignment. Partner closely with Marketing and Strategy & Insights CoE to develop metrics and assess impact.

Build understanding of current issues in the environment affecting businesses and brands; in partnership with Public Affairs colleagues, develop and implement public affairs strategies that inform and shape belief, action, behavior, and advocacy to shape the external environment.

Serve as strategic counselor to Sales and Marketing and Medical Affairs VP Leaders on external and internal thought leadership content.

Maintain partner trust through effective management of sophisticated, significant issues: Proactively identify potential brand/franchise-related issues and develop issues-management strategies.

Drive employee engagement and advocacy through powerful organizational communication: Partnering with business leaders, develop internal communication strategy and messages to inspire, engage, inform and align employees.

Shape and influence business decisions and serve as trusted advisor to mid and senior level leaders, including marketing leadership and members of the Oncology Leadership Team.

Develop and curate content that is compelling, relevant, and grounded in partner understanding and insights.

Build GCPA capability and excellence: Model and inspire a continuous improvement mentality to ensure function stays on the forefront of communications, change, technology, social media, and other key trends; share best practices.

Partner closely with the relevant Therapeutic Area Communication Leader within the R&D organization, Corporate Media Relations, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, and Investor Relations.

Manage public relations agency; includes managing public relations budget, measurement, and reviews.

QualificationsEducation:

Experience and Skills:

Required:

Proven performer with 8+ years of experience leading communications in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency.

Proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements.

Direct health care / pharmaceutical / product experience required; relevant therapeutic area experience a plus.

Salary:

The base pay range for this position is $113,000 - $195,500.

Bonus:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.
