Active Minds, Washington, District of Columbia, us, 20022

About the Active Minds Internship ProgramActive Minds is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization changing the culture around mental health. Through our presence at more than 800 high school and college campuses, in corporate settings, and with a wide-reaching public audience, Active Minds is creating communities of support and saving lives. Founded in 2003 by Alison Malmon after the tragic suicide of her brother Brian, Active Minds is dedicated to supporting a new generation in ending the silence, helping to make mental health as highly valued as physical health. Through our many programs – including the emotionally gripping Send Silence Packing® traveling exhibit and our compelling Active Minds Speakers – we are changing culture and behaviors related to mental health across the country. Our internships are geared towards current college students and recent college graduates. As a small nonprofit, Active Minds relies on the help of our interns tremendously as they work directly on important initiatives and projects as well as assist staff on a variety of administrative tasks. Interns have the opportunity to do substantive work, gain experience in the nonprofit sector, and help change the culture around mental health. All Spring 2025 internships will be remote with an anticipated start date of February 3rd, 2025 and end date of April 30th, 2025. We expect interns to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, set a consistent work schedule between 9:00am and 5:00pm EST Monday - Friday, and commit to staying on board for the entire semester.Active Minds pays interns a stipend of $1,250 per month.Visual Brand/Graphic Design InternshipAs part of the Marketing and Communications team, interns will learn how the visual brand and design can support a nonprofit’s mission and can have a big impact. Because our mission is to empower young people to change the conversation about mental health, we deeply value our interns’ unique experiences, perspectives, creative ideas, and skills.Visual Brand/Graphic Design interns are passionate about visual design and eager about working in a collaborative, meaningful, and creative environment. We’ll work with you to create a semester that gives you experience and helps you understand your career goals better. You’ll expand your portfolio and gain industry exposure while also helping us to tackle all kinds of needs, both big and small, from opportunities like digital graphics to print collateral to video editing and more. The visual brand/graphic design intern will be supervised by a member of Active Minds’ Visual Brand team and work on a wide array of projects, including: developing Active Minds visual design templates, development of new store products, graphics support for the blog and website, design projects for Programs and Development teams, support ongoing visual brand audit and video support (depending on interest and experience).
