Responsibilities
Position Overview:The Sr. Director of Corporate Communications is responsible for overseeing all external and internal communication strategies, aligning them with the organization’s Purpose, Values, and Strategic Plan. This role ensures the development of integrated narratives that bolster both corporate reputation and public image while enhancing internal employee engagement. The Sr. Director works closely with stakeholders to drive employee engagement and contributes to strategic initiatives such as acquisitions and partnerships. This role also includes managing public relations, CEO and Executive Team communications, and crisis management. The Sr. Director of Corporate Communications will be a key partner in strategic projects and corporate development across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesInternal Communications:Lead the development and execution of internal communications strategies to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with company values and goals.Oversee key internal communications channels, such as corporate intranet and email, ensuring messages are delivered effectively.Manage major employee engagement events, such as national leadership conferences, executive roadshows, company podcast and town halls.Partner with People and Culture team to enhance employee engagement through communication initiatives aligned to the Employee Value Proposition.Public Relations:Develop and implement a communications strategy and editorial calendar to enhance corporate visibility and brand strength.Oversee media relations, ensuring positive exposure for all facets of the organization, including land development, acquisitions, dispositions, and partnerships.Build and maintain relationships with key journalists, media outlets, and public relations partners.Support the company communications approach, driving brand presence and thought leadership.CEO & Executive Team Communications:Work closely with the CEO and Executive Team to build their profiles both internally and externally.Provide guiding principles on communications related to the business, industry, and public image.Develop thought leadership opportunities for the CEO and senior leaders to strengthen corporate reputation.
Crisis and Issues Management:Develop and maintain a Crisis Communications Plan, acting as the primary communications lead during crises.Collaborate with cross-functional teams as part of the Emergency Response Team to protect the company's reputation.Serve as the main contact for media inquiries and emergency services during crisis events.
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).10+ years of experience in corporate communications, covering both external and internal communications.Proven expertise in crisis management and executive-level communications.Strong experience in media relations and public affairs.Ability to balance strategy development with tactical execution.Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.Strong leadership in team engagement, development, and succession planning.Experience providing strategic communications at the executive level.Creative thinker, skilled in developing innovative communications solutions aligned with corporate goals.
