POSITION DESCRIPTION: Plan, organize, and manage the district digital and social media activities for the District Seven Public Information Office (PIO). Manage and maintain content across all District Seven social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Ensure quality, brand, and timeliness using best practices, social trends, and new approaches. Promote the message of the agency in a positive and professional manner while being creative and engaging. Develop a monthly communications plan and schedule for districtwide social media outreach to ensure maximum productivity and audience reach.

Develop internally produced, high-quality digital projects from the ground up-from concept development, writing, storyboarding, filming, and editing. Participates on digital communication task teams for video projects at the local, state, regional, and national levels. Oversee consultant video production and district drone footage management. Produce digital media projects such as video interviews, podcasts, and newsletter articles for internal communications. Provide leadership and expertise in the field of digital media production and media relations as a subject matter expert throughout the district.

Manage the FDOT District Seven Tampa Bay website (fdottampabay.com), which provides the public with an interactive database of current, upcoming, and past FDOT District Seven transportation projects throughout the greater Tampa Bay area. Serve as the FDOT District Seven Website Administrator; ensure the development,coordination and implementation activities for materials included on the FDOT District Seven Tampa Bay website.Train others throughout the district to serve as contributors to the site through page and material creation. Check and manage the FDOT District Seven Tampa Bay email account, respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Perform quality control checks to ensure departmentcommunication and plain language standards are met.

Maintain and enhance the department’s communications goals as a liaison to the public, local businesses, stakeholders, and elected officials. Handle print, radio, television media, and the public as a district spokesperson to provide information on the various FDOT District Seven infrastructure and transportation projects and initiatives in the local area.

Prepare and edit news releases, fact sheets, media alerts, and lane closure information for the public and media.

Attend and promote public meetings and hearings, public information workshops, and construction workshops.

Assist in the coordination and implementation of special events involving FDOT, such as ribbon cuttings, groundbreaking ceremonies, and special announcements. Serve as the Public Information Office photographer as needed for events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the rules of grammar and punctuation. Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Skill in the use of social media and knowledge of best practices per platform. Ability to code in HTML/CSS and knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS). Ability to prepare and analyze analytic reports for social media and websites. Ability to assist in developing long range goals and objectives. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to select and provide appropriate information to others. Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to supervise. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: During a declared emergency event, the incumbent will be required to assist the district as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in news reporting, editing, public relations, public information, advertising, marketing, mass communications or journalism. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in communications or English can substitute for one year of the required experience. Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
