Development and Communications Manager

to join our team. In this crucial role, the ideal candidate will be a humble and driven professional who gets along well with others. In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), develop and execute a cost-effective and broad-based fundraising program to secure general operating support from individuals, corporations, foundations, grants, and organizations. Contributions:

Lead team in telling the Verland story via social media and other meansWork to build donor baseExplore volunteer opportunitiesPromote and increase Volunteer opportunities.Engage current grant funders and conduct prospective research and outreach to identify and engage with potential grant funders.Draft appeal letters and other fundraising- and marketing-related publications.Increase donations and cultivate future donations, both monetary and in-kind, as well as increase visibility, increase donor retention, and increase funding/donors.Identify new corporate partners and work to expand corporate relationships.Plan and cultivation of events.Ensure data entry is accurate and comprehensive and ensure that acknowledgement letters are turned around within a 48-hour window.Prepare and implement a communications and marketing plan incorporating social media, paid and earned media, direct mail, and advertising to increase public awareness of Verland.Maintain visually appealing and user-friendly websites, Facebook, and Instagram accounts to promote Verland services, programs, and events, create videos, and photograph community events. Conduct outreach to media contacts with focus on securing earned media opportunities.Oversee golf events and additional fundraiser events while ensuring cost-saving practices.Coordinate Verland marketing material to ensure it is relevant and engaging.Participate in the Events Committee to ensure committee members have a clearly defined strategy and the tools necessary to execute that strategy.Promote increased membership and community through intentional marketing strategies.Grant development and oversight.Required Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in business administration and/or marketing preferred.Education, training, or background in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. Political and/or non-profit advocacy experience is preferred.Four (4) to six (6) years' experience in a similar role with proven success in communications, fundraising, and PR/media relations.Two (2) to four (4) years' experience managing projects and staff.Exceptional ability to synthesize complex information and craft compelling stories for diverse audiences. Experience in creating engaging content for newsletters, social media, email campaigns, and other channels to engage supporters and grow followers and contact lists.Proficiency in managing and updating WordPress websites and other digital platforms. Graphic design, infographic production, and photo- and video-editing experience.Proficiency in monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of communication initiatives and channels using metrics and feedback.Understanding of fundraising and advocacy campaigns and ability to shape content to support fundraising and advocacy efforts.Familiarity with grant proposals, donor appeals, and fundraising campaign content development.Proficient with sponsorship solicitation and fundraising event logistics.Requirements

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times.The ability to move around campus as needed for meetings, events, training, and company-wide needs as they arise.Verland Values
