CBS News Bureau San Francisco is seeking an experienced WGA Producer who is prepared to set the agenda for a new national newscast! We need someone to be the backbone of the CBS stream's 24/7 promise, offering breaking news from around the world, best-in-class storytelling, on-the-ground reporting, and a behind-the-scenes look at how coverage comes together. We use innovative AR/VR technology to improve the experience, providing context, transparency, and accuracy. Come join our team!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Produce 60-minute newscasts.Responsible for story selection and editorial content.Time programs and segments with a good sense of pacing, energy and urgency.Oversee editing, script writing and creation of news graphics.Lead and work with national assignment editors, reporters, writers and producers while making editorial and content decisions in accordance with department guidelines and standards.Optimally communicate with field reporters, tape editors and talent.Write news stories and all newscast teases: in a straightforward, active voice, conversational style, with accurate grammar and spelling.Monitor wires and feed sources for updated information.Respond timely to breaking news.Use all production elements accurately and creatively.Exercise sound news judgment.Make quick decisions, and clearly communicate in the control room.Basic Qualifications:At least 5 years experience line producing with a proven track record.Desktop editing required.Additional Qualifications:Related College degree and/or equivalent preferred.The personal and professional maturity to direct and manage a staff of experienced reporters, writers and editors.The demonstrated ability to attract and hold viewers with compelling teases.Excellent writing and production skills.Adept at responding to breaking news, both strategically and in the control room.Eagerness to incorporate new media strategies and technologies.Desire and ability to innovate.Physical Demands:Must be able to sit at desk for long periods of time and operate keyboard.A detailed physical description is on file.

This position will be covered under the WGAE streaming agreement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $105,000.00 - 112,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
