Our dedicated and compassionate employees are driven by a common mission: To deliver the cures of tomorrow to the people who need them today.Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, Donor Experience, the Director works as part of a team that produces impact reports and stewardship materials for the Office of Philanthropy. Under the guidance of the Senior Executive Director, the Director will (1) make a strong case about the impact of investing in the organization's strategic priorities, (2) develop impact reports that demonstrate a deep understanding of our primary donor audiences, (3) synthesize complex scientific information into language that resonates with donors and key stakeholders, and (4) provide both proactive and reactive writing support. The Director will serve as a resource for Office of Philanthropy staff in the translation of science.The Director must have a strong grasp of fundraising and the nuances of how early-stage scientific research is funded. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with philanthropy colleagues, faculty, administrators, and staff. The Director is expected to demonstrate tact, excellent attention to detail, and independent judgment in the preparation and development of impact reports.As a successful candidate, you will:Provide proactive and reactive writing. Research, write, and edit stewardship reports for donors across the giving spectrum, with particular focus on transformative, principal, and major donors. Synthesize or translate complex scientific content into compelling and accessible narratives.Collaborate with researchers, recipients of donor funds, and other stakeholders to obtain narratives, abstracts, publications, financial details, and/or white papers from which to build impact reports; ensure the accuracy and completeness of content.Ensure written materials are effectively organized and presented; develop compelling, accurate, and credible content that is consistent with the organization's research, funding priorities and key fundraising opportunities.Effectively communicate the organization's mission, values, and scope in all donor materials.QualificationsYour qualifications should include:Bachelor's Degree. Experience may substitute.At least 5 years of formal writing experience in fundraising, stewardship and/or grants administration.
