We’re motivated, efficient, low-ego, and we like to make each other laugh.About the PositionThis opening is for the Senior UI/X Product Designer. Senior UI/X Product Designers at Grow Progress lead design projects from conception through to build, and iteration.A typical week might involve the following:Leading a design sprint with cross-functional stakeholdersCreating wireframes, prototypes, or mock-ups for a new feature or productSynthesizing feedback on your designs through our design critique processCollaborating with engineers through our design review process, to offer feedback on guidance as engineers build out your designsConnecting with your Product Manager to get alignment on ongoing projectsTagging user research insights in Productboard (our product management software)About YouYou’re a seasoned “full-stack” designer in the middle of your career with a specific interest and expertise in UI and data visualization design. You are excited by the opportunity to craft user interfaces that meet industry standards for aesthetic appeal and user experience.You are comfortable navigating conceptual, sometimes ambiguous challenges, and making sense of complex information. You are adept at relying on both your intuition and data to back up your design decisions – and you’re able to communicate those decisions clearly with various stakeholders. You’re prepared to have strong opinions and to express them, but you understand your role as the facilitator, engager, and synthesizer; you’re constantly thinking about frameworks and processes that will help align your team while centering the user. You are deeply curious, and have a knack for asking the right questions to identify and solve problems.In addition to your hard skills, you also bring an above-average amount of empathy to your work. You think deeply about others and are committed to continually improving how you communicate and build relationships with both users and your coworkers. You are the person in the room thinking the most about those with the least; you dream of a more accessible, inclusive, and equitable world and are constantly envisioning ways to build towards it.What You’ll Do:

In this role, you’ll serve as the team’s expert on UI and data visualization design, while also being able to throw on your “generalist” hat and practice design as a full-stack sport. You will design new features and redesign existing ones, conduct user research, and work with product and engineering to bring new products to the market. You will be expected to move fluidly between the macro and micro, paying as much attention to the execution of the corner radius of a button as you do to the interdependencies between large product areas.What You’ll Bring:

A portfolio of projects that demonstrate your UI chops as well as your experience working across the product development lifecycle from user research to prototyping to implementationProven ability to craft design assets (wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, etc.) that clearly capture and communicate design ideas with cross-functional stakeholdersThorough understanding of and ability to communicate industry standards related to UI and product design and an awareness of shifting market trendsExperience with emerging, component-driven design systems and proven ability to improve existing components and expand existing cross-disciplinary processesExpertise in data visualization design with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, easy to follow visuals for a variety of audiences and stakeholdersStrong visual design skills and aesthetic taste. A demonstrated mastery of fundamental graphic design, such as color, composition, typography, and visual hierarchyExperience collaborating with product and agile engineering teamsStrong stakeholder and upward management skills; experience turning your ideas into narratives that drive alignmentA proven commitment to clear, inclusive communication and experience collaborating with all kinds of peopleA passion for politics and progressive changeCurrent U.S. work authorizationBonus skills and experience/Opportunities for growth:

(~30 minutes) Short interview with our Director of People to answer some behavioral and logistical questions, and a chance for you to ask questions about the position and the company.Experience Interview:

(~30 minutes) Interview with our Design team to evaluate your experience and alignment with our team goals.Behavioral Interview:

(~50 minutes) Panel interview with members of the design team and cross-functional peers in which all candidates will be asked the same ~10 questions.Design Collaboration Challenge:

This is an evaluative stage that is broken into three parts –

Part 1: Receive Project Brief:

You’ll receive a quick design challenge brief 30 minutes before your interviewPart 2: Collaborative Session:

(~45 minutes) You’ll have an opportunity to run a collaboration session with a cross-functional panelPart 3: Collaboration Debrief:

(~15 minutes) You’ll debrief with our Design Manager

Final Interview:

$110,000 to $130,000 yearly salary (depending on experience), plus equity. Benefits include a 100% paid company health plan with medical, dental, and vision insurance, a flexible PTO plan, and a 401(k) with employer matching.
