Motorola Mobility is looking for a talented Sr. Product Designer to join our User Experience Design team. The User Experience Design group is responsible for creating digital experiences for the Motorola smartphone product line. From building the camera app interface, to leading the UX & UI design for the Moto Razr, our team is an essential part of what makes Motorola phones great. We are creative problem-solvers, design-lovers, and innovators who work together to deliver user-centered design solutions. If this sounds like you, we want to meet you. This role is for our Chicago studio. You’ll be joining a global design organization, with offices in Chicago, Brazil, and China.
Key areas
Lead UX design for a project— Work hand in hand with project managers to define the vision for an app or experience. Drive clarity of project requirements, deliverables and expected timelines. Facilitate collaborations between supporting designers. Ensure high quality designer deliverables, ensure that the final product going to users meets our standard of quality, aesthetic & usability.
Design strategy— Work closely with design leadership to ensure apps and experiences align with our global design strategy. Help evangelize user-centered design within the business, and advocate for strategic user outcomes. Assist in crafting high-fidelity material that represents the experiences that our team creates.
Logic & interaction design— Build experiences based off of a solid foundation of information architecture & behavioral logic. Build user flows with a nuanced understanding of decision hierarchy, user behavior and detail oriented micro-interaction.
Responsibilities
Independently lead UX design work on designated projects
Collaborate with PM & SW work-partners to define project requirements
Drive design process throughout the project cycle (discovery, concept, delivery)
Ensure on time delivery of high quality design work
Visually communicate ideas and concepts
Regularly present ongoing work to design team & design leadership
Give and receive peer review in order to elevate work quality
Create user-centered design work, incorporate user feedback, prioritize usability
Clearly document deliverables and create detailed specifications
Help design leadership foster a constructive environment with emphasis on creativity, collaboration and inclusiveness
Basic Qualifications
5+ years relevant experience
Prefered Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written & visual)
Hands-on experience with digital product design & development
Hands-on experience creating digital interfaces
Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design & design process
Demonstrated ability to build use cases, user flows, information architecture
Demonstrated ability to work with PM/SW to ship high quality products
Experience working with software development teams
Advanced knowledge of design tools like Sketch, Figma, various prototyping tools
Ability to create prototypes & design proof of concept
Storytelling - ability to communicate ideas in a compelling way
English proficiency required
A portfolio or work sample is required to apply to this role. Candidates will be asked to discuss their work during the interview process. The person best suited for this role will be able to demonstrate storytelling, critical thinking and problem solving skills through this discussion.
