Social Media Coordinator Job no: 542004 Work type: Staff Location: Los Angeles Categories: Unit 9 - CSUEU - Technical Support Services, Probationary, Full Time, Marketing/Communications Job No: 542004; 8/08/2024 SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR Communication Specialist III Office of Strategic Communications Salary Range : $4,611- $8,342/Monthly (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $5,000 - $5,500/Monthly) Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Some evenings and weekends for events; Exempt classification. Essential Functions : Under the general direction of the Director, Marketing and Brand Strategy, the Social Media Coordinator will be part of the collaborative Strategic Communications team working to enhance the communications and branding efforts on behalf of Cal State LA. The incumbent will be responsible for the reputation, visibility, and image of Cal State LA, with a specific focus on managing the university's social media efforts. This includes but is not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X (formally known as Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, and Vimeo. The incumbent will manage the university's Sprout Social account. The Coordinator develops and executes a dynamic social media strategy for the university. The incumbent will support timely social media announcements for high-profile senior leadership communications. The Coordinator will provide daily social listening checks, including tracking any crisis events that may arise. The incumbent will develop weekly reporting of top-performing posts and the overall performance of social channels. The Coordinator will also lead the Social Media Working Group and advise other social media leads on best practices. The Coordinator will be responsible for taking photographs, videos and designing graphics, primarily, but not exclusively for social media. The incumbent will also develop engaging content for web and print collateral. Required Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Four years of experience in the field of marketing, public relations, or communications. Must have comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of social media management, communication, public affairs, media and/or marketing theories and concepts in order to develop and execute communication strategies and plans to promote and position the university of university communication objectives of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to publications and the news media; comprehensive knowledge of marketing and research techniques and methods; working knowledge of appropriate use of statistical techniques; and broad knowledge of multiple art forms, genres, and creative disciplines. Must have expert networking and interpersonal skills, including strong consultative and persuasive skills to work with internal and external constituents and expert writing, editorial and analytical skills. Must have the ability to understand issues from a broad strategic perspective and translate them into effective communications, effectively manage social media and apply effective social media strategies and techniques, and market story concepts to university officials, media outlets, and internal and external constituent groups. The incumbent must have the ability to use market research to enhance the impact of communication strategies and campaigns. Be self-motivated and well-organized. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
