DescriptionServes as communications specialist answering calls from all prospective, new and current students. Assists students with all all general inquiries and resolves enrollment related (admissions, financial aid, registration, advising) issues. Prepares and sends communications to students regarding enrollment process and events. Accesses and maintains data in the Student Information System, and a variety of other reporting and communication applications. This is a highly responsible, paraprofessional position within the Office of Recruitment and Communications. This position requires the utilization of specialized software, as well as, adherence to state laws, rules, and policies and procedures governing college enrollment. Duties include coordinating and carrying to completion a variety of tasks not requiring the direct attention of the administrator/professional related to the communication (verbal and written) of all enrollment related policies and procedures to new and current students. The position requires independent initiative, judgment, and the ability to handle confidential records.

Serves as communications specialist answering calls from the operator line and tier 1 calls from enrollment related lines (i.e.: recruitment, admissions, financial aid, registration, advising).Conducts outbound calls to new and current students to assist them through the enrollment process.Assists prospective students via phone and live chat with the tier 1 questions related to the enrollment process (transferringmore in-depth calls).
Types various correspondence and other materials on general and technical subjects.
Drafts routine responses to inquiries not requiring a supervisor’s attention.
Prepares and sends communications to prospective, new and current students related to the enrollment process
Maintains student records in the Banner student system and other related student communications systems.
Examines, checks and verifies reports and statistical data for completeness, adequacy and established requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:Knowledge of computer data entry operations. Ability to enter complex and varied data into a database with skill and proficiency. Ability to maintain accurate and complete records in electronic as well as paper format. Knowledge of administrative office procedures. Knowledge of basic management principles. Knowledge of State laws, rules and regulations governing college enrollment. Knowledge of English usage. Knowledge of spelling. Ability to effectively and appropriately relate to students, other college personnel and community members. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate degree in appropriate area plus two years of related experience; or High school diploma plus four years related experience. A high school equivalency diploma from the State Department of Education may be substituted for high school graduation. Additional education may substitute on a year for year basis for required experience in related area. Must be computer literate
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.Use of fingers.
