The Worcester Education Collaborative’s (WEC) mission is to engage the community in fulfilling its responsibility to ensure that excellence in education is available to all public school students and that they are prepared for success in college, career, and life. The organization’s work falls into three broad areas: student achievement and attainment; community education and capacity building; and advocacy. As a key member of our nimble team, the Manager of Communications and Development will have responsibility for supporting the work of the organization in the areas of development, communications, programming, and administration.Responsibilities of this position include:1.DevelopmentThe Manager of Communications and Development will work to craft and support the fundraising plan of our organization. Specifically, the position will:Identify and research funder/donor prospectsManage projects within the development work planDevelop and manage a contact and prospect databaseAssemble grant materials in collaboration with the WEC teamProvide support for individual, corporate, and foundation solicitationsSupport donor stewardship2.CommunicationsThe Manager of Communications and Development will support our organization with implementing a communications plan, including the creation and dissemination of electronic communication, print materials, news articles and features, and conference presentations. Tasks include but are not limited to:Event marketing and operations, including print and promotional materials for events, email marketing campaigns, event registration, website updates related to events, and promotion across communications platformsNewsletters, bulletins, and other organizational publications, including designing, drafting, and working with staff to finalize all publications, as well as coordinating dissemination plans for all publicationsManagement of organizational website, social media and other creative content platforms3.General Programming and Administration SupportThe Manager of Communications and Development will support WEC’s ongoing programming and general administration. Specifically, this position will:Support our organization with scheduling, planning and coordination of other activities, including professional development sessions, community forums, and other events for the Worcester Community on relevant and emerging topics related to educational equity and excellenceComplete additional tasks and responsibilities as assignedRequirementsWEC is a small organization with a professional staff deeply committed to the organization’s mission. The successful candidate will be comfortable working as part of our team in a dynamic setting, able to manage multiple tasks and projects, and be consistently motivated to take on complex tasks and achieve high-quality results.The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. In addition, the successful candidate will be one who is able to manage many moving parts while keeping an eye on long-term goals, possesses excellent writing skills, is able to work independently and as part of a team, and is passionate about education and community engagement. Knowledge of the following software required: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preference for candidates with knowledge of Salesforce, Canva, Constant Contact, Squarespace, and online fundraising platforms.This is an ideal position for an emerging professional eager to develop skills in the non-profit sector.Reports to:
