JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Overview/Description
The Marketing Data Specialist is the team’s “data whisperer”. The person in this role will know exactly what data to gather, how to keep that data clean, where to find it, how to bring it to a central gathering spot, and how to assemble and visualize it for those who may not be as comfortable with data as they are. And here’s where the ultimate “whispering” comes in: the person in this role will spot trends, interpreting and telling stories about what the data means and what we should do with it. The Marketing Data Specialist will be a vital member of the marketing and communications team, helping us make fact-based, data-driven decisions on plans and strategies. The marketing data sources this person will work with include but are not limited to platforms such as: Salesforce CRM, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Hootsuite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adwords, Crazy Egg, SEM Rush.
Activities and Recurring Tasks
Identify, source, and ensure health/cleanliness of critical marketing and communications data, to include maintaining integration between systems.
Work with members of the marketing and communications team, IT and other college partners to gather data on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.
Work with IT to aggregate data on an automated basis to feed data assembly and visualization tools.
Create and monitor reporting dashboards.
Collaborate with other teams to implement new systems and tracking as needed.
Regularly publish data and trends, including but not limited to standard weekly results and formal monthly reports.
Meet with stakeholders as needed to provide interpretations of data and strategic recommendations.

The person in this role will work with personnel across the college, including but not limited to:
Peer Team of marketing strategists and specialists within the Office of Marketing and Strategic Communications
The IT, CRM, and web admin team within Smeal
Penn State Strategic Communications
Penn State World Campus
Academic, Center and Program Leaders within Smeal
Requirements & Skills/Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, computer science, business administration, statistics, or a related field/discipline.
Demonstrable experience (3 years minimum) performing many, if not all of, the activities/recurring tasks across all key platforms identified below.
Experience working with and integrating data from key platforms: Google Analytics (including knowledge of Google Tag Manager), Google Ads, Google Search Console, Salesforce, Semrush, Crazy Egg, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Hootsuite/social media platforms.
Advanced Working knowledge of data assembly, publishing and visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableu or other tools similar to these.
Advanced working knowledge of dashboard creation.
Must have experience working with marketing-related data.
Very strong oral and written communications skills.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
Familiarity with SQL.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
